Gears Of War on PS3, Why not ?
Gears Of War or Gears like the huge fan base of the game likes to name it, Undoubtedly one of the best & biggest game created during the current generation of consoles sitting the bar higher than anything we had ever seen at the time it was first released, Gears can be considered as one of the main reasons why Microsoft could silence any doubt about what is the Xbox 360 capable of and also to be fair Gears would never make it as one of the most important games for this generation without Microsoft’s help and supports.
Just like the time before Microsoft announced Metal Gear Rising, the video games media is full of rumors stating that the title is eventually going to the PS3 and the game will walk on the same way that bioshock and lost planet walked on before to end up as a multiplatform game.
Rumors are every where and they varies from a fake Epic twitter account announcement, A claimed secret interview with one of the developers, Even release dates and PS3’s covers can be found everywhere over videogames websites, some media sources has already started the discussion of how Epic will present the game and wither they will consider releasing any prequels for the game or not.
Now lets admit it! Microsoft did it twice – FFXIII & Metal Gear – and if Sony believes in Newton’s law and they are considering an equal response on the opposite direction they wont find a better chance -if they really have one- than breaking the exclusivity shield over one of Microsoft’s most effictive weapons in their consoles wars.
Honestly I’m not worried about the idea of how Epic games and Sony will present the game and whether they will consider releasing any prequels for the game or not, I’m sure that if they will do it they will do it right its just a matter of will they release GOW3 for the PS3 or not ?

Metal Gear Rising is going to be shit, Kojima has distanced himself from it and publicly has taken every opportunity to show he is against it. MG was over with 4, anything beyond this (especially without Snake) is just not MG. Besides, MGS2 was on the xbox….
As for Final Fantasy… have you heard of a game called Final Fantasy 11? You know… the one on the xbox…. Yeah, FF13 multi-platofrm was not as big as the North American media tried to make it seem. Besides, with the other two games in the FF13 universe being exclusive to PS… who would want to buy it on the xbox? Not to mention it is PlayStation exclusive in Japan.
If you want big “stolen exclusives” Than you will not get any bigger than Oblivion and Bioshock. Both were GOTY. Then you have all the Ninja Gaiden, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, etc. etc. etc.
Yeah, Sony has taken more from the 360 than you might think. In fact since MGS2 and FF were already on the xbox. The only significant franchise taken was Resident Evil. I’d add DMC but part 4 was really bad. I’d also mention GTA but Sony secured Agent exclusively, which will be much better.

But microsoft own the rights to the Gears Franchise, unlike the game microsoft is apparently stealing. MGS & FF are not owned by sony so the company could do whatever they wanted with them. Same goes for some of Xbox 360 exclusives. Mass Effect & Left 4 Dead could be on the PS3 before you know it. But i’m certain that Gears will not show for the PS3

xbox has the shortest list of exclusives of any console, almost everything that come out on xbox is available on pc so it is not exclusive . so if i want to play and xbox eclusive ill just buy it for pc and it will probably be a superior version of it.so unless i have to buy a xbox to play it its not exclusive.and they kojima even said it is not called metal gear solid only metal gear so really it is a new ip almost.and palystaion has FF13 VS. on top of just FF13. so we win there to.

No Mike, they own the rights to Gears 1 and Gears 2, that’s why the article mentions prequels and Gears 3, not ports of Gears 1 and Gears 2. They only secured a 2 game deal with Epic, not a 3 game deal. So if Epic wants to take Gears 3 to the PS3, they certainly can.

Kojima never said that he was against the game he said that he is not involved at all in the direction of the game he said this at the sony press conference. This wont be a metal gear solid game that we are used to and it is a multiplatform game as announced at the sony press conference aswell. But personally I think without Kojima directing the game it will have none of the things that made all the previous metal gears great. Now on to the topic of the article and not the ramblings of fanboys, I couldnt care any less if gears comes to the ps3 because i wont be buying it the game isnt half as good as anybody says it is I recently got the first for free from the gamestop buy 2 get 1 free sale and im pretty sure ill be returning it. Can’t really compare FF and MG coming to 360 as Gears coming to PS3. Both those games started on other platform and have been on other platforms. But it would be cool to see Gears on PS3.

As far as AAA exclusive titles goes, it goes like this:
The PS3 has the most exclusives now and the best/largest line-up of exclusives for the future.
The 360 has great exclusives now and will in the near future but not as numerous as the PS3’s library.
And for the wii… Well it just sucks … the Nintendo fagboys get a milked Mario game each year or so and thats about it…

Now i must have my say… Kojima was not really all happy and jolly when mentioning MGS Rising on 360… Honestly he seemed like he felt out of place and he did not get much clapping… Though he deserves it the MGS franchise is my favorite… Just finished 4 again and understand the whole story fully now. But i am not knocking the 360 or Kojimas MGS Rising… Will it be as good as MGS4… no… will it be close im sure it will.. Kojima will not let a game with his name on it be shit. He will make sure the mechinanics work and that it will be a great game… Though it wont have the same effect as MGS4. MGS for psp is a title that will be amazing. It has his full attention. And is a true prequel to the MGS universe. Though i am excited to see what really happened to Raiden between 2 and 4. And playing as a robot nina pretty much? Thats badass. Now to the Gears comment i personally think Gears will come to Ps3. Thats just me and will it be good… maybe. Im not a Gears fan myself (i only own a ps3 but all my friends have 360’s) I love the Horde mode in Gears Of War 2 i can play that for hours. The coop campaign seemed boring i played it for a lil awhile wit a friend and asked 2 play horde. Im probably gonna get flamed for my support of the Ps3 because i think it will beat the 360. Though the 360 is not a piece of shit. Does Ps3 needs Gears? no it does not. But it would be nice to some people if its added i guess i personally will not buy it. Bioshock is much better. I hate fanboys of both sides… but 360 fanboys are worse… Im not really caring for Gears cuz im going to have my hands full wit completing the 1st uncharted and then uncharted 2 and then COD MW2 (thats rite bitches!!! haha) Which will probably get GOTY. All in all i like how the article expresses a reality and truth about what could happen. If it happened 2 MGS it will happen 2 Gears. but back on topic, i cant see gears coming to the ps3.
epic to me just does not seem interested in the ps3, they dont seem enthusiastic to dip into the well and see whats there.
plus M$ would do everything in their power to stop that, they have a massive check book at their disposal.

Metal GEAR RISING WILL suck….. and Kojima HAS said he is not working on the title and in an exclusive interview he said he IS producing, writing and directing Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker for PSP and it will follow the storyline of the original metal gears… Metal gear rising doesnt carry the solid name and is a new project not created, directed or supported by him, only konami. Now that thats out of the way, Gears 3 will never come to the Ps3 unless Micro$oft goes bankrupt because just like GTA dlc, Fo3 dlc, and etc Micro$oft will pay sack fulls of money to keep one of their 3 ONLY good exclusives (Halo, L4D) exclusive to the 360. Where sony developes new ips and produces exclusives first party micro$oft buys exclusives.

Who ever wrote this is a complete idiot. Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid is not a trademark of sony but Gears of War is published and OWNED by Microsoft. That’s why games like mentioned above can be on other platforms, they are not published by Sony. Metal Gear Solid was actually first on Nintendo and Final Fantasy has never been a exclusive to Sony, it has only been the “main” console for the games so far. Microsoft decides which console Gears of War will be published on and Playstation is not an option.

I don’t think I’d buy it for ps3 already owning both 1 and 2 on the 360 but the coop is fun. the online wasn’t for me but other people obviously enjoy it. I always wondered about this game though. With all the devs having trouble making good sales while staying exclusive it just seems like the right choice to go multi platform. The only devs that havent gone multi platform …seems like they are lazy and dont wish to learn the often more difficult ps3 architecture. And i say good …. I would rather buy it for 360 then get a crappy port on my console of choice… the ps3. So unless its up to par… leave Gears (Not GoW) on the Xbox.

The only way any Gears of War or a Halo game will appear on the Playstation 3 is if it makes economic and political sense. Right now that isn’t happening. The short term sales Microsoft may make on such a move would ultimately cut there own throat because there would definitely be some people who would buy a Playstation 3 just to play the games. Cool games + console with low failure late + free online + company that isn’t Microsoft = PS3 system sales.

Yes, Microsoft DOES own Gears. Look at the mocked up cover on this page, see where it says “Microsfot Game Studios”… It was developed in conjunction with Epic, There is no possibility of it hitting another console without major lawsuits between Microsoft and Epic, and Epic is making plenty of money as it is. Why would they risk something like that to move their game to the lesser selling console?

i own a 360 that im loaning to my bro and picked up a ps3 for 200 dollars last week off a friend and it died today so i have to fix it when the power supply comes. im saaad. i like my toast buttered.

highly doubt that this would ever come to ps3 because microsoft are fucking greedy they steal every exclusive from any platforms like the grinder or final fanasty 14 and they would start writing checks out to epic games for gears of fags anyway ps3 owners are’nt missng out on much it’s boring the dialogue is lame as hell it’s not fun at all i’ve played it at my friends house one night because it got good reviews they said it was fun as hell only to lead to dissapointment and thats the truth my friend. uncharted could run circles around this crappy ass game and for those idiots saying quantum is a gears knockoff or garbage does geow have a tattoos or red eyes or cool looking armour no, does geow have a playable girl with a sword and gun combined no, does geow have a living battlefield or living tower no, does geow have about 20 weapons no, can geow climb walls and fight while climbing no, so how can it be a ripoff when it has all these features to it. just because it has a cover system or the main badass syd looks buffed up like some of the characters it makes it a clone. SHUT THE FUCK UP all of those who are saying this is a bunch of 360 fanboys who hate or don’t like tecmo for some stupid reason. just because ps3 is gettng a more advanced version of ninja gaiden 2 and that tecmo is making another ps3 exclusive so they have to bash all tecmo games just because they see ps3 a powerful console OH CRY ME A FUCKING RIVER BITCHES i bet money if both these games were exclusives on 360 you be kissing tecmos ass and come and call me a fanboy all you want because i know the truth. plus for those calling the graphics garbage they fucking look awesome the detail in the armor and the tower and diffrent locations is amazing and how it looks is fucking spectacular and it has it’s own engine thats right bitches it’s own engine not crappy unreal engine 3 it’s own engine so hate now and hate in 2010 when it arrives that makes room for it to be a hit 360 fanboys we’ll never learn do THEY!!!!!!!!

M$ DOES NOT! own gears of war.
they had a 2 game deal with epic, so gears 3 could be on what ever system they saw fit.
and just because the game has Microsoft game studios on it does not mean they own the IP.
ninja gaiden 2 had that and its coming to the ps3.
3rd party exclusives are depleating.
why because games are much more expensive than they use to be, there for restricting sales on one system will hurt the devs chances from making a profit.
that is if M$ dont come swooping in with their infinant checkbook

It’s never gonna happen, Sony couldn’t care less about the Gears of War franchise, and you know Epic is not that keen on bringing it to the PS3 in the first place.

Gear of war franchise is own by Microsoft now, there will be no gears on ps3 or wii but Epic games is not owned by Microsoft, Which if they want to make a new franchise they can make it multi-platform anyday just like Bungie, Ruffian Games, or Valve Corporation There all Third-party partners….. Ps3 is the one that own many companies like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, Zipper Interactive and Guerrilla Games… PS3 FTW
