Mass effect 2 demo is overheating Xboxes

According to the last update from Bioware on twitter, the demo of Mass Effect 2 is overheating the system:
“Danger Will Robinson! Xboxes in ME2 demo overheating. We’re stalled as we fix”
I think they are talking about GamesCom demo. I Hope the final game won’t have such problems.

How typical. Great game though, I wouldn’t mind having it on the PS3. But One Microsofts conference sucked. And the system is still having major problems. Even though they have some really interesting games for their console. I just wouldn’t want to go through the hassle. Sony is back on track. The price is right. They have some of the best and most innovative studios and games coming out for their system.
Microsofts reign of terror is over. Maybe Xbox 720 in 2011.

the only problem the xbox360 have is a poor design cooller . . .
they should add fan on the heatsink . . . they can’t just extract heat with fan that is nearly 8cm+ away
xbox got a 3 core cpu no to mention a GFX card that generate extreme heat

the PS3 has a large fan that cools the entire cpu . . and it’s located right above the heatsink where the cpu’s are . .

shouldn’t bioware do tests on a real console before releasing the demo, or they are forced to put the demo regardless to its EFFECT on the 360 , this bad for microsoft first a slim ps3 then a heat causing game not to mention the good old rrod, what should we do put ice on our consoles ….., peace again .

The original Mass Effect is what overheated my 2nd gen Xbox 360 to it’s death after playing the game for the first time, for only 30 minutes. Now they’re doing it again.
They must push the dev kits to a point that normal consoles can’t support. Unfortunate. I still haven’t played any more of Mass Effect since…that day.

i have both the ps3 and 360 and i love them both the same but its so annoying that i have to be really careful with the xbox becouse im so scared that one wrong move will overheat it while with the ps3 i know nothing will happen so i shut it of in the middle of a cod4 macth without second thought.

The message says that the consoles running in the ME2 demo area are overheating, not that the demo is *causing* overheating.
Good for a knee-jerk scare story or fan-bait, but you might want to read messages like this properly next time, instead of just skimming over them.

sony is finally getting their act together and there have been some good games this year and there are some good games coming for 2010.. 360 is a good system but what makes it is live and the game library.. second to none.. unfortunately microsoft built a box that continually overheats.. it is unacceptable.. and while i own both the ps3 and the 360, i prefer the 360 for the variety of great games.. not to mention multiplatform games look and perform better on 360 in general.. the live community is awesome.. the controllers are better for large hands.. and i luv the console exclusives.. that being said.. i’ve had to send back two systems for red ring.. and that has infuriated me and i don’t know if microsoft will be getting any of my money in the next console generation..

Mass effect 2 is being in talks to be switched over to the playstation 3 console as for now bioware state they are not doing anything. but im sure they will ditch microfag360 very soon i also hear halo 3 will be switched come 2011.

How can the Mass Effect 2 demo be blamed for overheating the X-Box 360 console? If they say it happened I would assume it would be bad console design not bad game design. Even if ME2 was specifically designed to overheat the console you would think there would be safeguards in place to prevent it. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. Go Microsoft!

I just hope that people realize that MicroSuck has been screwing them over the entire life of the 360. Over 50% of the people that bought a 360 had to send it back for repairs, and 47% of those same people had to send it back again! To me that is just fucking pathetic, but not nearly as pathetic as the microsucker fanboys that still insist that 360 is the best. Yeah, because having no BlueRay, no built in wifi, no built in bluetooth, and no 1.3 HD is better. You people are out of your fucking minds. hahaaa the sony losers finally got their allowance from their mommees and daddees to buy another shit console but this time it’s a slim shit. good thing these losers exist otherwise i wouldn’t have been ablie to rip their loser kind off when i sold it my brand new, never opened ps3 (piece o’ shit x3) on the day of release. it came free when i bought my 75″ panasonic hdtv(which is the BEST hdtv in its class). i didn’t want such shitty brand so i decided to give it back for a cash equivalent but the store said they can’t do it so i sold it to a sony loser in the store when he overheard my convo. i sold it for $3k and bought a 52″ panasonic hdtv (also the BEST in its class, just read the reviews) and walked out of there with 2 kickass and BEST of class hdtv’s ever made. keep the sony losers alive coz they amuse me and they buy all shitty sony products for @least 2x the msrp price. lmao

The reason that Xbox 360 has so many problems, is because the majority of people who use them don’t take proper care of them, I’ve had mine for two years with no problems, i don’t understand why people have to be so critical of the “other” system, two thirds of them don’t know what they are talking about, it’s just mindless jabber they hear from someone who hears from someone. I am not saying any system is better, i have both and each for different reasons, Xbox Live is an enormously better online experience, there is plenty of games on the 360, And personally the controller feels better. But there is no arguing the PS3’s potential, First it has blu-ray, the processing capabilities are unmatched, and it has some very very good game series that aren’t multi-platform. Why can’t everyone just take them for what they are and realize each of them have their strong points, and weaknesses?

As XBox360 owner it does concern me when I read a topic like this, if it’s true. I mean when I really think about it, I love Mass Effect and I’m anxious about Mass Effect 2. At the sametime I am worried about running my 360-E since it ran really hot with ME, the game also froze a lot. I also am a PS3 owner and I would love to see ME2 on the console since it is a killer game. Only because I like 3rd party titles to always be multi-platform.

Personally, I could give a shit less about what console is better, I play the games regardless. And think of it this way fanboys and girls : lets say the console that you hate is completely obliterated one day in competition , and the console you love so much is the indomitable victor, and becomes pretty much the only console around , the rest having stopped production of games for them as they lost hope long ago. Well, guess what? It’d be really fucking boring, for everyone, including yourselves. Diversity is a good thing, so is having competition. Without either things grow stale and monotonous. Anyways, as far as Mass Effect 2 goes, I don’t see how this could pose much a problem if they fix it before release, and even then , I’d still buy it, because its going to be a great game.

so yeh the xbox 360 has RROD, however what many people fail to realise is the ps3 has yellow light of death, and that problem occurs in roughly 1/3rd of all PS3s in their lifetime, and yeh i agree the 360 is worse cuz something like 53% of 360s will get RROD at one point, but what i dont understand is that everyone bashes the crap out of microsoft because of RROD but hardly anyone knows about YLOD on the PS3, also, for all new 360s (not sure what gen it is now) but the one that was released about a year ago, has a fail rate of less than 25%. so new 360s are actually less likely to brake than PS3s. sorry fanboys, but its true. also stop bashing microsoft for the ME2 demo overheating the 360, im sure it has something to do with Bioware aswell, probably making their game too awsome, lol.

Yeah masterlinklace, that’s not true. 1/3 of PS3s don’t get the YLOD. It’s actually something like 5-6%. Maybe you shouldn’t pull facts out of your ass. However, the 360 failure are less than they used to be like you stated.

First of all: Spell properly, get a dictionary or something like that. Secondly: Sony will be charging you for their online soon, it’s already been put into motion, so PS3 owners can’t hold that over the 360 anymore. Thirdly: The 360’s that HAVE overheated are the OLD GENERATION Xbox, which means that you’re using an older version of the 360, which doesn’t have the same support for the newer games that the newer consoles have. As for the faulty programming with MS, yes it exists, but that’s just because the OS is better than the others. A microsoft OS can support more content than any other OS (even though linux is better for programming, and the penguin is awesome). No console is better than any other, it’s all based on YOUR OWN OPINION, and chances are the people defending each console only has THAT console. I personally only have a WII (Broken now cause my brother sucks) and I don’t really care. I’ve trusted Nintendo for a long time, then they release that piece of shit. I was sad on the day I unpacked that white piece of fail, and played it with the shitty motion sensors, and the lack of GOOD games like that gamecube and it’s predecessors. In my opinion the 360 and PS3 are even, I only say that because: Yes the 360 may have programming flaws, and it may be inconvenient sometimes, but if you really think about it that console has the best support, and content available out of them all. The PS3 JUST came out, it’s like the newborn baby of the gaming world. As for the Wii’s sales, this is ONLY because every little shit under the age of 12 wants this game, because that’s the AUDIENCE it’s TARGETING. If you look at the games, it’s just like the McDonalds commercials. It lures the kids in, and they get their mommies and daddies to buy it for them, cause they’re only kids. I realize you’re all going to try and rip my post apart, and I assure you I will watch to see what you say, and prove you wrong every time. But until then, consider what I’ve said.
