It was Sony’s turn, now it’s your turn
Sony, poor Sony. How many times they have tried to please gamers this generation? All gamers knows that the PS3 faced a lot of problems since the day it launched. First, it was the price, then it was the lack of quality games and the lack of improvements and support to the PSN, finally it was the poor performance of third-party games on the PS3.
While Sony must improve in many fields, I can tell you that Sony has done a great job in addressing their major problems.
Sony started fixing one problem after the other; they fixed the lack of high quality games by releasing some of the best games this generation such as Uncharted, MGS 4, LBP, Killzone 2 and much more. At the same time, they were busy developing Home and making the PSN getting better and better. Third party developers also started supporting Sony’s console in a very strong manner by announcing exclusives contents. Don’t also forget the huge number of exclusives from first-party and second-party developers.
Now, with the recently announced price cut, there isn’t a better time to buy the PS3. For 299$ you can get a great console that plays some of the best games this generation and we still haven’t seen the best yet (wait for Uncharted 2 and GOW 3) plus Blu-ray movies support and free online gaming via PSN. I will also give them credits for wireless connectivity, where you don’t have to buy a wireless adapter to connect or play with your friend wirelessly through the network.
A lot of gamers says that the latest update to the PSN (Firmware 3.0) wasn’t what they hoped for, but don’t forget that you don’t have to pay to use these upgrades or to play online. XBL is great, but you can’t experience it full features unless you have a golden membership. Especially if you consider the upcoming Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm features in the upcoming update, where non golden members will only get a trial version to get a glimpse at the previously mentioned features.
Don’t get me wrong, Xbox360 is still a great console as it has some great games and XBL is the best place to go online. But now, the PS3 deserves better sales after all of these improvements. I have never seen Sony like this before, they really are pushing themselves unlike Nintendo who’s getting worse every year.
If you don’t have the money to buy one of the shiny PS3 Slim consoles, start saving now. I think the ball is in your court now, so don’t miss the opportunity.

Great article! 100% agree. I live my ps3 and I just keep getting more excited every day. Fanboys will most likely have something to say for some reason but just wanted to say thanks for this article. It’s how feel and it’s a nice change for all the b@tchin that’s been getting posted.

Sony must improve the PSN in order to compete with Microsoft Xbox360, that where Xbox360 beats the PS3

@solidsnake:
I agree. Once the PSN has all the features gamers would need to connect seamlessly with each other (which is only cross-game invites, voice chat and party system), then the PS3 will truly be a force to be reckoned with. Not that it isn’t now, because now, more than ever, the PS3 is the biggest bargain you can get. It’s just those three little extras that will send it over the top as the King of the Hill.

@heltonhammer
I’m very happy with the PSN at the moment as it does what I want it do. Play online with my friends. I don’t care about cross game invites as it’s still easy to get into the same game.
Also I fear for the time when people consider PSN better than XBL as then Sony may have a reason to charge for it.
