Halo 3: ODST story is the smartest in the series
Lets get one fact straight and be honest with each other: Halo fans will buy this game regardless of what the critics are going to say about this game. But there is the Xbox 360 owner who isn’t such a big fan of the Halo franchise (like me) who wants to know if the game is actually worth the hype and the money or not.
But before I explain more about Halo 3: ODST, I want to clarify that I had finished all of the games in this very popular series and I have been enjoying the multiplayer portion from the series more than the story mode. But as I have started playing the campaign mode in Halo 3: ODST, I found myself sucked in the story and the atmosphere of the game this time more than what I had experienced before from the previous games in the series and I will explain why shortly.
The game starts with all of the ODSTs getting ready to drop into the Earth city of New Mombasa, but things doesn’t go as easy as it seems, where the ODSTs will witness a mysterious explosion that will make the drop much harder for them. After that, you will get your first close look at the dark streets of New Mombasa and your first mission is to get the voiceless ODST (The Rookie) out of the dangling escape pod. It’s clear that Bungie wanted to create a gloomy Halo game this time around and they show it by welcoming you to the creepy streets of New Mombasa. When you start wondering the streets of New Mombasa while you are playing as the Rookie, you start to get the feeling of loneliness (the streets of New Mombasa are lifeless) and the fear of what yet to come at the next corner. Also, it’s worth mentioning that without activating the visor, it’s hard to see if there are enemies coming to engage with you in a fight or not. The isolation and loneliness themes Bungie used to tell the story gives the game a very unique and mysterious feel to the game.
From here, you will start looking for the beacons that are scattered around the city. When you find a beacon you will trigger a playable flashback that will explain what had happened to the other three playable heroes in the game.
I found myself enjoying how the game progressed; Rookie’s segments are dark and atmospheric while other heroes segments are packed with over the top action. The change in the game pacing prevented the game of becoming repetitive and it made the story more interesting.
If you are expecting the game to look much better graphically than Halo 3, you will be disappointed. The game uses the same engine Bungie used to power Halo 3, but Halo 3: ODST looks slightly better with better lighting and more detailed character models. But what the game lacks in graphical prowess, it make up for in its fantastic artistic design and great soundtrack.
I’m currently at the end of the game and I really liked what I have seen so far from the campaign mode. But Stay tuned for our full review of the game in the upcoming days and that’s when we will give our final verdict for the game.

The Halo series remains the only real serious reason that i continue to bother playing games
Bungie has a superb mastery of the fps design and it’s only ever the clueless that say otherwise

What a load of shit, XBOTS pull microsofts dick out your mouth and billy gates dick out your ass, it looks like theyr just milking US mofos for your dollar, the game looks like 2006. Now lets compare this game with reistance 1 on the ps3, coz u know, just looking at it you know u cant compare it with the likes killzone 2 or resistance 2 because of hodst,s shoddy quality, in a level playing field i think resistance 1 would be a great comparison. Does Bungie know its 2009 and we want 2009 quality games, halo 3 sold 10 million and now they come up with this, cum on!!!!! microsoft just shoves our money from the masses up theyr asses, such a successfull franchise and you give us this WTF! i have both consoles and let me tell you KILLZONE 2 IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME! if you havent got a ps3 and you havent played resistance well then your gonna keep getting anal from bungie arent you. resitance 1 is way better than halo 3, R1 IS ridiculous
