5 most anticipated Xbox 360 exclusives in 2010

Posted by Ahmad Dajani On October - 6 - 2009

2009 wasn’t the best year for Xbox 360 owners. The quantity and the quality of the Xbox 360 exclusives in 2009 weren’t like what we have had seen in the past few years. But all of that could change next year; as 2010 is shaping up to be a good year for Xbox 360 owners.

The best Xbox 360 exclusive this year (until now) is Halo 3: ODST, but still there are good amount of exclusives coming for the Xbox 360 this year such as Forza 3 and L4D 2.

Microsoft might announce more exclusives in the upcoming months for Xbox 360. But here, I will not talk about unannounced or rumored games, instead of that I will list the games that are guaranteed or most likely to hit in 2010. Here we go:

5. Crackdown 2:

User's Manual A200.lnk

Crackdown 2 is a sandbox-style third-person shooter video game developed by Ruffian Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios.

The game is modelled similarly to its predecessor Crackdown, a third-person shooter in open world gameplay. The player character is a super-human officer for the city-funded “Agency”, known simply as the “Agent”. This time around, increased levels of customization for the character are allowed, unlike the presets offered before. The game set in Pacific City, which has become infested with urban-gang warfare, assisting the Agency in the battle for Pacific City against numerous crime lords who control the city. The game will offer seamless co-operative play in the main game, but will now support up to four players. The game will also feature competitive multiplayer modes for up to sixteen players.

4. Halo Reach:

Halo reach

Halo 3: ODST campaign mode is one of the best (if not the best) in the series, but there was one thing that had lessened the player immersion in the game: the graphics. Don’t get me wrong, but the graphics in ODST isn’t up to today standards. I’m really excited to see the new engine, Bungie, are going to use in Halo: Reach.

The open multiplayer beta included in ODST will give us an indication for what the game will offer. Also, the game could be the final Halo game from Bungie, so I think they will try their best to make the game the best one yet.

3. Splinter Cell: Conviction:

splinter-cell-conviction-screenshot

Conviction was one of the games that I was looking for in 2009, but sadly the game pushed back to February, 2010.

The game starts Sam Fisher, who’s in for a personal mission this time around. He’s going after the guy who killed his daughter and he will not stop until he get his revenge. The game contains some new gameplay mechanics like the ‘Mark and Execute’ where the player could kill enemies in a very cinematic way. This feature will add some strategic gameplay; as you must choose the perfect time to benefit from this technique. Conviction could be the best one in the series, and I can’t wait to play the full game.

2. Mass Effect 2:

masseffect2_screenshot_09_1280x720

Mass Effect 2 takes place two years after the conclusion of Mass Effect. With the Reaper invasion stopped and Saren and the geth defeated, Commander Shepard learns that entire human colonies are mysteriously vanishing.

Teaming up with the human supremacist organization Cerberus in the investigation, Shepard will also journey across the galaxy to recruit “up to a dozen of the galaxy’s most dangerous operatives” to face this new threat.

The game seems to be improved in every aspect from the original; the graphics are looking more polished with no texture pop-up/pop-in, the shooting mechanics looks to be more fun, and the emphasis on moral choices is heavier than the original. Also, you will be able to carry your save files from the original Mass Effect, which is a big plus for me.

Mass Effect 2 will be one big epic space opera that no RPG fan could live without. will Shepard and his companions save the colony? Will Shepard survive this suicide mission? that’s why we need this game badly.

1. Alan Wake:

6345

Alan Wake is a “psychological action thriller”. that’s how Remedy’s writer, Sam Lake, always prefers to call his next mega game.

Alan Wake, a bestselling writer, hasn’t managed to write anything in over two years. Now his wife, Alice, brings him to the idyllic small town of Bright Falls to recover his creative flow. But when she vanishes without a trace, Wake finds himself trapped in a nightmare. Word by word, his latest work, a thriller he can’t even remember writing, is coming true before his eyes.

The game has been in development for a long time, and gamers has been talking about this game forever. If the game managed to achieve the psychological thriller part, then I will be more than satisfied. Sam Lake has been promising Alan Wake players with smart story and strong atmosphere, and from what we have seen from his past efforts (Max Payne series), he seems to be more than capable of keeping his promises.

So, those are our picks for the most anticipated Xbox 360 exclusives in 2010. What is your most anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive in 2010? Tell us by leaving a comment below.

exclusive means that is not available anywhere else, Splinter Cell and Alan Wake are NOT exclusives

before you say anything, “console exclusive” is a meaningless term, if a game is released only on 360 and Wii, would you say it’s a HD exclusive?

probaly 99% of PS3 owners have PC and they can play Alan Wake, Splinter Cell and left 4 dead 2 without a 360

360 owners can’t play uncharted or killzone without a PS3

  8. Your Brother :) Your Brother :) Said,

In my point of view, if a game is being made for Xbox 360 and Windows, then it truly is an exclusive. A Microsoft exclusive, and when it comes to consoles, there are only 3 companies to choose from. Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. Since Microsoft owns both Xbox and Windows, then even if a one of those 99.999999% of PC-gaming PS3 owners purchase a Microsoft exclusive, then they are still purchasing a product from said company. So I totally agree with Splinter Cell, Mass Effect, and Left 4 Dead 2 being both an exclusive and “console exclusive.”

Another issue that bothers me, PC-gaming and Console-gaming and like comparing apples to oranges. PC games are just so much more intense and deep compared to console games. Not only does RTS literally FAIL on consoles, but FPS games are much more fun and easier on PC’s. MMO’s only work on PC’s. I will, however, admit FPS games on consoles are still fun as hell, just not as good as on PC’s. And I will say that RPG’s are better on consoles.

what if I play left 4 dead or Splinter Cell on Linux? are they still a “microsoft exclusive”?

also pretty much any PC from the last 5 or 6 years can run left 4 dead, it’s the same Source engine that Half Life 2 uses, almost all PS3 owners have PCs and I would say abuot half of those can run new games are least on low settings

  11. Cypher Cypher Said,

Like everyone said, only two of these are Xbox 360 exclusives, they’re coming out on the PC aswell. Even if you play your games on windows, it doesn’t mean that they’re microsoft exclusives simply because you’re getting your operating system when you get your PC (some people do, but others change to a different OS, though a lot of gamers pirate their OS, so mircosoft is really not making money from these gamers). That’s the only way the company can make money from gaming on PC, thus, it doesn’t give it enough entitlement to say it’s an exclusive. Microsoft isn’t giving enough support to companies who make games on PC to say it’s a microsoft exclusive. Calling, Splinter Cell, Mass Effect 2 or Alan Wake exclusives to Xbox 360 is dismissing the greatest format for gaming: PC.

This is a very horrible analogy. First off; the Xbox 360 and PC can play the same version of a game, just formatted for the system it’s being run on.

LittleBigPlanet, and LittleBigPlanet PSP are two completely separate games. There’s no denying that. Also; it might be worth noting that PSP, being a handheld system is in no way near powerful enough to run the PS3 version of LittleBigPlanet.

So yes; I do have to say that LBP is a PS3 exclusive.

LBP is not a ps3 exclusive.
    whats the definition of exclusive?
last time i checked the definition of exclusive is only available on a certain device.
so in other words LBP is not a ps3 exclusive because you dont have to have a ps3 to play it even though LBP PSP is different.
    same goes for 360 exclusives.
you dont have to have a 360 to play splinter cell conviction, so its not a 360 exclusive.
its not even a microsoft exclusive because as far as i know SPC will run on OSX.
have to check up on that.
if it only works with windows or the 360 than you can call it a microsoft exclusive.
same goes for LBP you cant call it a ps3 exclusive but you can call it a sony exclusive, because you have to have a sony console to play the game.

spinter cell 360 and spinter PC are the SAME game, so it’s not an exclusives

  30. Richard Richard Said,

I hate xbox fanboys, the xbox has those exclusives, and i’m going to settle the exclusive on console/PC thing right now. Ok so if i want to play left 4 dead on my PC i got to steam, which is where i buy most of my games unless they are very hefty. So when i go onto that page i see no MS logo anywhere, i map be playing on XP but that doesnt matter because i could play it on OS X if i had it. SO therefore L4D2 isnt a MS exclusive, cause i wouldn’t be giving MS any of my money, same with SCC. So no they are not exclusives, and that dubai guy who made the comment, “Xbox 360 have very very big AAA games on 2010

ps3 well be dead on 2010 have no games after all”. I’d like to ask him, are games like GOW3 GT5 last guardian white knight chronicles not big games, cause last time i checked they were, and what kind of average gamer can really, truthfully afford to buy 5 or 6 games in a short period of time… so everyone shut up, I hate these type of shit stirring articles.

Ok, you guys play your Xbox “exclusives” on 360, while I, who will never buy a 360, will be enjoying Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Mass Effect 2 and L4D2. In fact, those last 3 will also coming to PS3! You’ll see.

Just how exclusive are they now?

Microsoft exclusive? Who the hell cares what’s “exclusive” on their end? Not me. Fact is, no 360 needed to play good games = waaaaaaaaaaay less/no money for MS = NOT EXCLUSIVE

No such thing as a console exclusive. Like that other guy said, if it was PS3 and Wii (same game), would it be a HD exclusive? NO!

Motorstorm and LBP? PS3 exclusive, but Sony franchises. The PSP versions are NOT THE SAME GAMES as in the case with Xbox and PC.

Xbots are so desperate these days and had to try to (unsuccessfully) reinvent the word exclusive because they can’t handle having no exclusives to play.

    2) Mass Effect 2

I see Sony Fanboys are really pissed about this list. Surprising, considering the fact that real gamers on the PS3 shouldn’t be ashamed of their own list of exclusives for 2010 (Including DC Universe, which is considered an exclusive although it still comes to the PC).

The funniest thing is, they’re not even aware that a few months ago MGS completely ditched the PC development of Alan Wake and it is now only planned to be released on the X360.

PC and Console gamers are very different. There is a small section of gamers that overlap and play on console and PC but that is a small percentage. The fact that these games are coming only to the 360 and not the ps3 is important.

For the ps3 fanboys allow me to quote a little shakespeare. Me thinks you protest to much. Meaning, you wouldn’t raise such hell unless it bothered you that the ps3 is not getting these titles. If it really wasn’t a big deal you would stfu and say, meh, whatever.

Personally I don’t think its possible to compile a list of the most anticipated xbox 360 games for 2010 because microsoft seems to be hiding its hand of any games remotely featuring project natal. So I expect to see a lot more exclusives announced early next year. Finally why are so many people arguing hypotheticals to try and win the console war, you like your console great, you’ve got a pc great, nobody cares, each man for his own and don’t preach your opinions as fact and force them upon other. They’re deluded by there fanboyism fine let them be.

You do realize you’ve just named all the games from established from a set of established series with established formulas most of them great games but grand turismo? Come on its not even good at what its meant to do and that is, be the most realistic racing sim. Sure its got good graphics but the formula has been the same for almost a decade. Your probably the kind of person who has had the same dinner for 10 years and you still think its the best thing ever.

  50. orion orion Said,

Fanboyism is annoying yes, but some of the people that you guys are calling “ps3 fanboys” here are probably not fanboys. I own PC/PS3/360 and wanted to know what exclusives they had in 2010 and when searching for 360 i came up with this article, and it totally pisses me off that you listed so many non-exclusive games and that there are people thinking they’re 360 exclusives.

I will be playing Mass Effect 2 on the PC because Mass Effect 1 was superior on the PC (played both versions), I will be playing splinter cell conviction on my PC because m/kb will probably be better there, I might be playing alan wake on the PC (still unclear if it’s coming) because even if i would prefer a controller the graphics will be superior.

You don’t even need a super computer to play many modern PC games anymore, Mass Effect 2 runs stable 60 FPS maxed out at 1920×1080 with my 2 year old PC (HD 4870, 4gb ram, C2D E8500 3,16 ghz), so the amount of people owning a PS3 and a gaming PC is huger than you think, and this is the superior combination wheter you like it or not in 2010 because the 360 doesn’t have many exclusives.

The same boring old argument still hasn’t stopped eh? My consoles better than yours? Grow up…… I heard the same old crap with the NES/Mastersystem, Megadrive/GENESIS SNES.
Here’s a question do you have shares in either Microsoft or Sony? Why do you care which consoles’ better?
Oh and PC gaming is good – but too damn expensive. I’ll just stick to my consoles and not give a f**k which one is better.

  53. Santos Santos Said,

I am a gamer period, I own PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, an a gaming PC that I used to play almost every mmo out there, yes including WoW although I stopped playing about 6-7 months ago.

Normally not a HALO fan, I have been getting into fps games, an while I have not played ODST, I have played MW2(yawn) PS3, MAG(love Domination maps) PS3, BFBC2(fun game, great gpx) 360. They all are fun, an the gpx on both MW2 an BFBC2 are similar esp when you play in HD, whats different is the gamers you play with.

All systems have their fanbois, but I just like playing great games, an I could care less what system makes it an if it will be available for whatever system. Now in saying that I cant wait for Xbox to step up an release some good exclusives.

IMHO PS3 is in the lead as far as exclusives, Uncharted 2 was insanely fun, GOW3 was great even though it was a little short, and Heavy Rain feels like your directing a movie, different gameplay awesome story lineS.

As far as Xbox 360 they have been slackin in the exclusive dept. but that mainly cause they have some not released yet, Mass Effect 2 was great but you knew that Bioware would not put out a crappy game, Metro 2033 looks ok, I am interested in some of their holding the line stuff, Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper looks like it could be a good game, Sniper: Ghost Warrior looks decent, Alpha Protocol is one game I am looking forward.

If you lucky enough to own both systems just play the games you want, if you dont just be lucky that you can play some of the xbox 360 games on the PC. If you want to be a fanboi to either system thats your choice but I will tell you that your fanboi status of your system will cause you to miss some really good games on the other system.

Oh an for the person that said its hard buying so many games in a short period I agree, get a gamefly acct, I buy most of my games thru them, an for games like Darksiders an Dante’s Inferno where you might play thru several times an then not touch it for a while, gamefly comes in handy rent one beat it send it back get the other. They have been awesome for me playing all these good games that came out, bad thing is that I end up liking the game so much that I end up buyingthe game from them anyway.

Anyway thats my 2 cents, I guess I am just a priviledged gamer, I play whatever whenever.

  54. Righteous Righteous Said,

Alright now, technically hey can call it exclusives, BECAUSE microsoft can easily make it for Xbox only, but why would they do that? They are also a huge PC company. Lets not forget, right now because of xbox live, and their PC’s microsoft is reeling in the money like crazy, and with those shitloads of money, The next gens wont really involve ps3. Furthermore, Sure alot of people with PS3s have a Computer, but if you want to play Alan Wake and other high end games, you need one thats up in the charts….Not everyoene can afford that. Which is one the reasons consoles have an advantage.

OK LETS END THIS ‘EXCLUSIVE’ THING FOR EVER, look at the games case, if it doesnt say either, “only on xbox 360″ or “only on playstation” then OBVIOUSLY its not an exclusive. this is correct with only one exeption, the xbox 360 version of ‘grand theft auto episodes of liberty city’ has ‘only on xbox 360′ on the case as it was an xbox360 exclusive before it was introduced to ps3.
lbp has the ‘only on playstation’ logo on its case
l4d2 hasn’t got any ‘only’ logo on the case

  56. IgnorantSonyFans IgnorantSonyFans Said,

These games below are all Microsoft exclusives:

    Crackdown 2
    Halo Reach
    Gears of War 3
    Codename: Kingdoms
    Forza Motorsport 3
    Alan Wake
    Shadow Complex
    Monster Hunter Frontier Online
    Perfect Dark
    Vanquish
    Fable III

And now it has all the Indie developed RPGs like Breath of Death VII, only difference is we 360 owners aren’t out gloating about all our awesome exclusives.

Splinter Cell Conviction and Left for Dead 3 are DEFINITELY Microsoft exclusives. If you manage to pirate the games and play them on Linux, then it really doesn’t count since you broke the law as certainly you HAVE to have a Microsoft platform to play the full game.

Try playing it on your Macintosh without pirating it. Doesn’t work, friends. Also, there is no way that God of War, Little Big Planet or Uncharted 2 are anything but Sony exclusives. I can still play that on the PSP easily, or if I do something illegal I could pirate it and play all those damn games on my PC like I did with FF7 & Syphon Filter.

Do I care to mention these things? No, because that kind of crap or hacking the game so you can play Sony exclusives one Linux is downright stupid. Not to mention illegal so it should not even be part of this.

I may be an Xbox fan, but even I recognize that just because Microsoft has more exclusives than Sony I don’t have to make up ludicrous bullshit to pump up my other platform and claim I can play every Sony game on my PC. That’s just idiotic.

When are you total fools going to grow the hell up. Anyway, Vanquish, Forza Motorsport and last time I checked Fable III plus Codename Kingdoms is a pretty damn good lineup when it comes to games.

  57. What He Said What He Said Said,

What the guy above said, hands down.

You absolute tards are so focused on your mediocre hallway shooters like Uncharted: Indiana Jones, that you fail to recognize when Microsoft clearly has more exclusives and better exclusive games when you look at the full year ahead. And on top of that you insult all of us by claiming its exclusive, when you can play the same exact similar game on PSP.

PC & console ports are rarely ever identical, the console port is given more story.

Vanquish, Forza Motorsport 4, Halo Reach and Gears of War 3 are all total exclusives to Microsoft as is the next Splinter Cell and Monster Hunter Frontier.

This is just so far sony girls, because to be honest if MS had unveiled all its exclusive games that it actually has…..it would shock Nintendo since they happen to work with a lot of developers.
