Will Halo: Reach match the graphical quality of Killzone 2?
Ok. I know that it’s too early to compare these games visually for two simple reasons: Firstly, the leaked screens of Halo: Reach aren’t clear enough to let us judge the overall quality of the visuals in the game. Secondly, we have to see the game in motion to determine if the game is up to Killzone 2 visual quality.
But to tell you the truth, the leaked screenshots has displayed some indications of what to expect from the game graphically. The weapons model looks detailed and astonishing. It seems that Bungie has been playing or watching Killzone 2 a lot, as you can see the huge amount of details that has been put in the weapons alone. Similar to what we have seen from Killzone 2.
The environments in Reach does look more detailed than what we have seen from Halo 3 and ODST. But we can’t tell which game has better (between Halo: Reach and Killzone 2) textures or better looking environment, as we need to see better screens for Halo: Reach to make an honest comparison.
While Halo: Reach is shaping up to be the best looking Halo game ever, yet we have to see a game on consoles that can render lighting and particle effects like those seen in Killzone 2. No matter what if the game is using the rumored X-Engine or not, we have to wait for better screens, an official trailer or maybe the upcoming beta could give us a better resolution.
But there are some questions for you folks: Will Bungie finally back its amazing gameplay with powerful visuals? Will Halo: Reach replace Gears of War franchise as the best looking exclusive on Xbox 360? Will it match the graphical quality of Killzone 2? Let us know by leaving a comment.

unless they run on a different console Halo games will never match Killzone 2 on the 360
360 is maxed out, Gears of War 2 is the limit and we will never see a better looking game on the system (check vids from Alan Wake or Splinter Cell if you disagree)
the second pic (the one with the scope) looks like is belongs on Halo 3 and looks inferior to ODST

Well, Alex C is a pretty big fan boy actually I think he can agree with me that he is a giant Sony fanboy to claim such things. What people don’t understand is 360’s problem isent its hardware but the damn dvd. the GPU is much more powerful then the ps3’s, CPU is much more poweful then the 360’s. So this X-engine could actually be better the KZ2 engine but only time will tell. And the background is looks ugly because its pre alpha you have to look at the guns because they show the games engine.

I’ve said this before and i’ll say it again graphically Halo:Reach doesn’t need to be better or as good as Killzone2 or Uncharted2. The gameplay of Halo1,2,3,ODST is on a fucking level of its own. Bungie dominates the gameplay aspect of their games and when it comes down whether or not a game is good or shiity, gameplay is the main factor not graphics. just my opinion – peace… and buy the way why wasn’t Killzone2 the HALO KILLER it was supposed to be? umm GAMEPLAY thank you

Why does the PS3 have any exclusives when all the games released at the same time on both the 360 and PS3 sell better on the 360?? this post doesnt belong here but its just crazy to think a game like killzone 2 has sold dick on the ps3 when if they put some extra time in sales would be 5x higher with the 360s unprecedented support for games

And to all those ppl talking about sales of Killzone you can just keep talking. Bad sales doesn’t mean the game is bad. You guys keep playing sales. I’ll be playing all the games that have graphics and gameplay that Halo and the Unreal Engine will never reach. And that’s real talk. Why is there so much hate for the Xbox? Jesus, its not like it affects the PS3 or anything.
And besides, Halo’s graphics aren’t bad. In fact, Halo 3 could have had amazing graphics if they had created a simpler level design, but Bungie made a more sprawling and varied environment, and the graphics and textures kind of paid the price. Reach could definitely be as good, or better than Killzone 2’s. Killzone 2 had basic level designs, and so they could put more into the appearance instead of the game.
Not saying Killzone 2 is bad, its just… simple. It doesn’t have many different environments, for god’s sake, it has a color palette of brown, gray, and red. The level design is basically straightforward, and the enemy AI just isn’t top notch. I wouldn’t exactly call it excellent, I would say it would be between good and average. Not the PS3’s best game. Uncharted 2 fits that role perfectly.
And back to the matter at hand, it might. The gameplay pictures don’t exactly have picture quality of the highest caliber. But from what I can tell, the graphics look pretty good for an alpha to pre-beta build.

I’m exclusively a PS3 gamer. But as I like to be an informed gamer, I was anticipating seeing the first pics of M$’s “ace in the hole”: Halo Reach. What I think….is that alot of 360 gamers that were expecting some amazing looking game, something that can at least be compared to Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2, are going to be disappointed greatly. It looks like more of the same to me. But the game will still sell like hot cakes to 360 gamers. They seem to very much enjoy buying the same game over and over, just like CoD fans. Obviously that’s why there’s vaseline over these screens. Just more of the same. But like I said, I’m sure it will have record sales. Enjoy your game 360 fans. I’m going to play Killzone in celebration of you guys getting your first look at your “new” Halo. Cheers.

It depends on what they want to achieve. Killzone 2 was made for graphics. That’s it. While the devs made it look pretty, they also put together some gameplay. Its like it was a secondary thought. If they focus on graphics, it might be good, but not as great as it should be.
Uncharted 2 did great things while focusing on gameplay. They wanted to make an action movie, visuals were just an addition. And they still look amazing.
I expect reach to look great, about KZ2 quality, but it won’t be what makes the game like Killzone.

Simple, yes.
The scenery is what makes it look good. It’s basically just a stimulant to the gameplay. It doesn’t have many varied level designs.
And really? How many FPSs have you even played? One, two?
Games like Modern Warfare or Battlefield: Bad Company had such more intense levels than Killzone 2.
The game isn’t that great. I would rate it a 7.5, maybe 8/10. The gameplay doesn’t differentiate, except for perhaps Corinth River with the tank, or the exo skeleton. It had such a basic design. There are so many better games for the PS3, like Infamous, Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet, and I’m sure you’ve played MGS4.

I’m sorry but I just don’t understand you fanboys. Reach looks fantastic and I’m sure it wil be a great game. At the same time I’m saving up for a PS3 to get the new ICO game. Graphics aren’t all that’s important it’s gameplay that comes first. And lets face it there are many games which beat killzone consoles aside. Both consoles are great with th 360 having Mass Effect and Halo and the PS3 with The Last gaurdian and R&C. I just don’t understand why you have to bash this other console.\Like did it molest you new born infant or dd your mother burn you with cigarettes ad your just angry at the worls. Wow, look at all the delusional PS3 fanboys coming to spread their typical delusional nonsense.
I own both systems and I like them both for various reasons, but the picture PS3 fanboys try to paint is so far from reality. There are two games on the PS3 that I think are marginally better-looking than anything on the 360 (so far) and those are: Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2. That’s it. And several 360 games are not too far behind.
What we can see in the Halo Reach shots looks promising and I definitely think that it will be right up there among the best.
We’ll see. Ultimately though, it doesn’t matter. The graphics will be plenty good enough to make it an enjoyable experience, provided the gameplay is good (which we have no reason to doubt).

I hope like hell Bungie isn’t watching anything GG’s did with Killzone 2. We would have a throwback game with no co-op, no 4 player co-op, no Firefight, no Saved Films, no Forge mode, & a game only 12k people are currently playing online. No, I hope Bungie isn’t paying any attention to the overrated Killzone 2 that was outsold by Halo 3:ODST in 1 friggin day!
See, SONY boys, the only reason Killzone looks good is they lack features that would make the overall game take a huge graphical hit. So shut this talk up of Killzone 2 quality because it isn’t worth a damn to a real gamer!

This article is ridiculous but what’s more ridiculous is the MDF out here trying desperately to deny the truth that the 360’s graphics are complete garbage compared to the PS3. It’s no wonder 360 exclusives don’t sell half as well as the GT franchise – you 360 fanboys don’t buy games you only talk about how great they are without even believing it. You need to get lives…….or, at least, something more worthwhile to spend your time doing.
Halo: Reach matching Killzone 2 in graphics OR gameplay is a laugh. Not only will it not match K2 but it won’t even come CLOSE to Uncharted 2. Halo isn’t worth a damn to a real gamer!

The graphics are still in development since the levels in Halo reach screens look detailed but are empty. But BUngie always makes huge levels with a lot of objects without caring about textures details.
So may be if we see more than only we can say. Halo 3:ODST was really good hope Bungie makes it better.. I really like the new approach of ODST it was good.

Judgement should be reserved for more definitive representaion of the visuals, the halo series as a whole has never been a visual powerhouse but at the same time it still looks really good. Will Reach look as good as KZ2 probably not but it doesn’t matter. PS3 exclusives with lots of time and effort will look better than a 360 exclusive with the same amount of time and effort but cross platform usually looks better on the 360.It’s funny cause all my friends that have ps3’s all they talk about is how ps3 is more powerful has better graphics and so on and my friends that have 360’s say maby you do in some exclusives but we have halo and thats better than anything ps3 has, so thats pretty funny. Both consoles have great exclusives, ps3 may have more coming at the moment but things can and usually will change.As someone who loves both consoles i have to say that the halo series is great but it’s getting a little repetitive, great gameplay aside bungie needs to make it exciting to play again, i was exited for halo 2 and was a little dissapointed and even more so when halo 3 came out because i felt like i hade already palyed the game, ODST was a good effort to try something new but was still repetitive. I’m sure Reach will have amazing gameplay like all halo games and hopefully enough change to make it feel new and exciting to play. I don’t know why people get so defensive and heated over a game console, why don’t you just buy the one you don’t have they arent that expensive, that way you can have all the exclusives and then you won’t have to complain about what each console can achieve.

WoW this is why i hate Sony fan boy’s u guys don’t know nothing i favor the xbox because of certain games and xbl it not a hassle to play with your friends.Graphics everyone knows PS3 is far more superior but who cares a good game is a good game and Xbox isn’t that far off on graphics.I own both systems and both are great in there own way but what u kids don’t understand is Sony messed up by taking so long on the PS3 they lost most of there exclusives(take metal gear 4 example it will almost look the same on both systems)why,Because it’s being developed on the 360 which means it will be a port,While Sony was waiting to drop the PS3 the 360 was getting early success because of the head start,now when Sony finally catches up it will be too late because the new Xbox will be coming out and Sony will be missing out once again(my opinion but who cares)the winner of this war will be the system that wins the next gen battle so consider the 360 and PS3 just weighing in for the fight and the Wii being the ref but all this really doesn’t matter a hardcore gamer don’t see a war they see great games and are enjoying them on whatever console they prefer something everybody needs to learn
