E3 and other gaming expos are coming to Xbox Live (Rumor)
There are a lot of gamers, gaming website editors, and developers around the world who can’t attend (but wants to) the biggest gaming expos such as E3. And if I have an invitation, should I have to travel to attend the expo? As we speak yes, I must. But all that could change in the near future with the help of a new virtual service through Xbox Live.
According to a concept posted by a market research firm specializing in the video game industry (VGMarket), a virtual video game convention service could be made available through Xbox Live and the good news is: the service could be free.
If this virtual service will ever see the light of day, this is how it would work:
- Suppose a videogame convention is currently taking place in the real world.
- Sign onto Xbox Live, and you can enter a virtual version of that convention.
- This virtual version contains 20-60 virtual booths sponsored by larger publishers and developers presenting at the real world show.
- Use your Xbox Live avatar to walk around the virtual convention and interact with various objects within each booth.
- See new trailers, behind the scenes clips, exclusive interviews.
- Select live videos and audio feeds that you can activate to see what is happening at the actual convention at the real world.
- Map features allow you to jump to specific areas within the virtual convention and to specific video or audio locations on the real world floor.
- Attend alone or party up using the communication methods found in your favorite games (private massage, voice, chat, etc)
- Watch keynote addresses and speakers, interviews, entertainers, etc. From the real world show while in the virtual convention through real time streaming video/audio.
- Download and play demos and/or betas if they are available while navigating the virtual convention.

Microsoft are the innovators while others copy.

I really hope your being sarcastic….It’s just a copy of Home, which is a copy of Second Life, which is a copy of reality lol
Nothing is original thought anymore.

Copied straight from Home (which wasn’t very original itself). Then again, Microsoft has been ripping off of other companies a little. Like Avatars and Natal.

I have always thought something like this would be amazing and see no reason why it could not be done, just imagine also being able to have live questions, obviously a very small fraction would be answered but we could essentially have an online Q & A from the gamers watching. Or even have it so users post questions and people vote on what questions they woul like to be answered.
I also feel microsoft could expand this to include special game spacs such as genre specific arcade games such as the racing game that should be comi ng but alot more like that but using avatar awards. just think of having the wharthog avatar item allowing the use of a wharthog in a mario kart esque game but with avatars and characters from the system.
Also social games such as what we saw in gta 4 but allows natal play and obviously more in them or a duck hunt game that alows the hand to shoot the targets with people competing for highscores everywhere.
Overall i think the best thing that could come right now would be expos using the intant on hd technology which could involve party watching like sky and areas that allow all sorts of games to be played and new ones added to say thanks to gold members.
Any thoughts ???
nice article i’ve wanted this to happen fingers crossed

just 1 problem.
people could hack into it and get unauthorized access.
security at E3 and gaming events is pretty tight, no pass no entry.
having this would make it much, much, much easier for the normal public to gain access to things they otherwise would not have access to..
would be cool though, id love to play some demos of games months if not years before release.

simple solution anything that you dont want them to see keep away from the service such as video streams anything if its not on the service they cant hack it, if others are there with streams on the web then its gonna happen anyway

This is what I always thought Home was going to be. I always thought it would be cool if they released the demos that are on the show floor on the same day and allowed live video streams while the show was going on.
Why hasn’t this happened yet???

Ohh and sorry to say this but I highly and I mean HIGHLY doubt Microsoft would ever allow a service like this to be free. A lot of people would love and use this service and Microsoft knows this. So if Microsoft only makes Netflix,Twitter,Facebook & Last.FM only available to Gold Members that have to pay $50 to use these services that are free to everyone else then don’t hold your breath on them making this free. It will only be available to Gold Members you can bet on it.
