Famitsu FF XIII imperfect score explained, and all of FF games scores by Famitsu
Now with Famitsu’s Final Fantasy XIII score is up (39/40), there are many fans who are questioning why the game hasn’t got a perfect (40/40) score from Famitsu. Famitsu score system, which consists of four reviewers rating games on a scale of 1-10 has given the latest entry in the Final Fantasy series: (10, 9, 10, 10).
According to one of the reviewers, up until the mid-way point of the game, the story seemed be linear and that it didn’t offer any new “gimmicks” in its story telling. Though, all of the reviewers have praised the game’s well done cut scenes and strategic combat system.
Although the game hasn’t got a perfect score from Famitsu, I think that the game will be fantastic. For comparison’s sake, here’s how Famitsu has scored other Final Fantasy games:
Final Fantasy I – 35
Final Fantasy II – 35
Final Fantasy III – 36
Final Fantasy IV – 36
Final Fantasy V – 34
Final Fantasy VI – 37
Final Fantasy VII – 38
Final Fantasy VIII – 37
Final Fantasy IX – 38
Final Fantasy X – 39
Final Fantasy XI – 38
Final Fantasy XII- 40
Final Fantasy XIII – 39

FFX – 40, mega joke, famitsu is pathetic.

The best game in the series is FFX, also I respect FF 6 and FF 7. FF XII sucks when compared to other games in the series.

you are wrong mate !!
he criticized the combat NOT the story
thats the only reason for that 9 score !

If there’s one thing i’m not looking forward to in FFXIII it’s the active – time battle system, i much prefer the turn – based combat from FFX. However the rest of the game looks perfect.
Also, to the guy who said FFXII sucked, no it didn’t. Final Fantasy XII was majestic, not as good as X but definetly the second – best FF game ever cretaed (At least so far).

FFX used the Active Time Battle system… XIII simply uses an advanced form of it that has a faster pace, allows chained combos plus other additions.
“Final Fantasy XII was majestic” and several other spelling/grammar mistakes.
Are you even out of primary school? Claiming X and XII are the best ever FF games suggests you’ve hardly tried any before the PS2 and somewhat contradicts your comment about not looking forward to FFXIII’s battle system. It’s much closer to X’s ‘turn-based’ ATB system than XII was.

Final Fantasy 9 should have been given 40/40 It was by far the best experience
Final Fantasy 12 took advantage of the PS2 hardware which is why it had large scale plat forming elements and good music but the depth of some of the key characters was lacking.
I have not played Final Fantasy 10 yet

Stories becoming linear towards the mid way point isn’t such a bad thing especially considering the nature of Final Fantasy Games. There are plenty of side missions and secret bosses to discover which is more than enough to pass your time from the main quest….
I think if the story got any more complicated the demand of other quests would just cause confusion and frustration.

@tripleFF-fan
Have you ever played the full version of Bayonetta?
Have you ever played the full version of FF XIII?
It’s all only opinion without a fact (full of fanboyism also). They aren’t in the same genre too.
@solidsnake
FFXII is not the worst. It didn’t have the most interesting storyline (average yet very mature) but the gameplay and battle system truly awesome. FF VIII is definetely the worst FF I’ve ever played.
My most favourites FF all time :
1. FF VI : Best storyline ever and also the most tragic one, memorable character, Aria di Mezzo Charatte
2. FF IX : The most balanced between interesting story and gameplay, best atmosphere (I love medieval theme), Vivi Ornitier
3. FF XII : Innovative battle system, no random battles, great art and design (remind me alot of Vagrant Story), great atmosphere too

Best memories by far has gotta be FFX. Breathtaking graphics, well rounded cast, emotional storyline that for me has was a 10 score. FF7 then next best (very fun game) – great RPG experience for it’s time a top score of 10. FF12 was okay but got tedious a well rounded 8.5. As for 8 and 9 worthy 9s. If the FF13 gets a 9 or above across the board reviews thats good in my books. Bring on March (UK release date!) Booked my week of work already!!

[...] I’m not the second reviewer, whoever he is. His explanation for giving a 9/10 was “There’s a few niggling issues like battle damage being difficult [...]

FFXII – 40
Was epic brilliant and so much damn fun to play. With loads of stuff to do and exploring was absolutely perfect. Very mature
I agree with that it is so damn good. Though i don’t agree with FFXIII as 39 its so much worse than any of the others. Completely immature and boring to an Nth degree.
