Forza 3 sells 1 million? maybe not
According to Microsoft, Turn 10 highly acclaimed sim driving game Forza 3 has surpassed 1 million copies sold. But if you consider that Forza 3 has sold 175.000 (NPD numbers) copies in October and the game wasn’t among the top 20 best sellers of November, you will understand that there is something wrong. Read on to understand more.
I know that NPD numbers are US numbers only -UK, JP, and the rest of the world are excluded- But for Forza 3 to achieve 1 million copies sold, the game has had to sell at least 300,000 copies in the US, and an equal or a better number in UK and in the rest of the world in November, isn’t that so?
Take a look at NPD top 20 best sellers of November, where is Forza 3? Have you seen Dragon Age: Origin PS3 version numbers? 177K, and still there is no Forza 3. Maybe the game had performed much better in UK and in the rest of the world?

According to VGchartz, Forza 3 has passed 1.5 million copies sold with 700k in the US, 760K in Europe and the rest of the world, and 50K in Japan. But if these numbers are correct, then why Forza 3 wasn’t listed in NPD top 20 best sellers of November?

its so boring they sent it to the suppliers but they all fell asleep in the office playing it and forgot to re-sell them on on the highstreet or places like amazon / play.com in uk. gutted. its wak anyway. dont buy. colin mcrae dirt 2. thats a game. especially if yor thinking od building a new pc. graphics cards come free with it if you get the newest direct x11. ones. peace

Lol @ lolz…..out right saying forza 3 is a fail is just a ps3 fanboy who loves GT 5…..Forza 3 is a great game in its own right…maybe its better then then GT5 will be maybe not….But since they are best exclusive to each system i will say Forza 3 is the best racing game out for the 360…and GT 5 will be the best racing sim for the ps3….
And Dirt 2 isn’t a racing Sim like forzz 3 or GT 5 its a great racing game though have to say that…so you really can’t compare Dirt 2 to Forza 3 and GT 5 cause them 2 are pure racing sims and Dirt is a racing game…

NPD reports EUA NUMBERS, not european and other numbers. Turn 10 said the game is already a million seller WORLDWIDE.

And all the ps3 fanboys rub their grubby hands in glee for some how caring about sales…untill they realise that Uncharted 2 is nowhere to be seen in the top 20 either making it a “fail” too right?
Also, Forza 3 has been in the top 10 of the UK charts since release.
It sonly “only” 175k in the Oct NPD’s probably because it was out little over than a week at the end of October in the states.
The 1million claim is worldwide… America’s not the world.. hard to believe i know.
Unrelated, jesus look how many more copies MW2 sold on the 360! Must be a much better game on the 360 eh

The leaderboards on forza 3 are over 850k and about 1/5th of people who own xbox’s dont have xbox live so that means that the game has sold well over 1 million so this article doesn’t make sense at all also didn’t borderlands sell well so why was it so low down on the list? I think the reason why it isnt on the list is because there are alot of new games that were released in november which have all sold loads so the games that were released during october get pushed back

The point is that the NPD charts show that Forza couldn’t have sold more than 177k units for the whole month of November (realistically, the game perhaps sold ~100k to 125k units, although it could be less than that).
The problem with this is that VGChartz is showing that Forza sold ~455k units in America for the month of November. This is a BIG, BIG disparity with what the NPD is saying. Therefore, it’s evidence that all or part of the sales VGChartz sales data is flawed or overestimated.

It didn’t sell 177k. It sold a guaranteed LESS than that. Probably closer to ~125k units sold for the month of November, considering it didn’t even chart in the Top 20.

NPD does not track every retailer in the US and yes, unless you have a solid source we don’t have a firm grasp of how it sold in the UK and EU.

and anyways who cares how much it sells…cause honestly if everybody could buy only 1 game this holiday season and was between modern warfare 2 and forza 3…about 27 million will buy modern warfare 2…and the rest will buy forza 3….just cause they did or did not sell 1 Million copies the game is a great racing sim for the xbox 360….. and i say that 27 million will buy modern warfare 2 cause all the little ones love cod and hence why i hate the game….and its fairly easy game to play…..Forza 3 is a great game and doesn’t matter how much it will sell cause it won’t beat modern warfare 2 xbox sales….just cause modern warfare 2 is a hype machine and forza 3 is actually a great game…
