yea thats what i thought since the TV needs active shutters to turn the left or right signal off and on to create the 3D image, thats how they work switching off one signal than switching the other off and so on to create the image.
as far as i know normal 200Hz TVs like the Z5500 series does not have that capability.
but as i said i could swear i remember sony saying they would be at CES, more frustrating thing is i rang sony and asked they replied i have no idea.
went down to their showroom and same thing happened.
they make the TV but they dont know what it can and cant do.
thats useful!

To add to what I said above, my conclusion is that you need to get an official "3D" hdtv rather than just one with a refresh rate of higher the 120hz. I may be wrong, but logic dictates that this seems to be the case.

I don't know about the accuracy of the 120hz requirement, but it would seem to make sense if it were to allow for 60fps for each eye, thus making up a 3d image. The hdtv would have to support an input signal of higher than just 60fps in that case I would have thought.

dident they also mention that TVs 120 Hz and higher will be able to play 3D content?
i swear i remember hearing something about that, but every CES coverage i check has no mention of it.
i hope its true because im thinking of getting a sony Z5500 LCD TV which supports 200 Hz, because i cant wait till 3D TVs come out, my TV wont last that long.
i hope the Z series is 3D compatible because i really want to have a 3D compatible TV, and once i buy my new TV in a few weeks time i wont be buying another one for at least 5 years.
