Modern Warfare 2 is approaching Halo 3 sales numbers on Xbox360
There is a couple of multiplatform games such as GTA 4 and the first Modern Warfare that if you combine each game sales separately on all platforms, you can have games that outperforms Halo 3 (10.70 million) numbers. But there is one fact people may not know about: There isn’t a single HD game on just one platform that has had managed to sell more copies than Halo 3, though that could change in the near future.
Since MW2 launched last year in November, and the game has been selling like hot cakes. According to VGChartz, MW2 current sales figures is 8,718,191 copies on Xbox360 and 6,005,775 copies on PS3. MW2 is on its way to hit the 10 million landmark on Xbox360, which means it has the potential to outperform on Halo 3 numbers in the near future.
There are many games coming this year that could sell a large amount of copies such as Gran Turismo 5 and Halo: Reach. But can any game coming in the future do MW2 numbers on just one console/platform?

Well it shows that the 360 has NOT outsold the PS3 by 2 to 1 like other sites are stating. PS3 will still sell more MW2 games also, also what people have to remember is that the 360 had the MW2 console bundle to help them sales figures. I’m just glad that the PS3 version is better online compared to the 360 version which suffers with many more Glitches then the PS3′s version of the game.

Not even close..MW2 had all of it’s problems with Multi-player on the PS3 early. MW2 will beat Halo 3..but reach will reclaim the crown for the 360 easily.

Point is, Halo 3 is quite obsolete now: People interested in the Halo 3 multiplayer will but ODST Instead because it includes the same multiplayer component. I will recommend Halo 3 only for people interested in the story.

The 2 to 1 ratio mentioned was about NPD numbers in the US. Worldwide the numbers are quite different, but the X360 is still selling better with or without regard to the user base. I guess it’s because the PS3 version is actually inferior online, and sony does’t seem to care about cheaters and the integrity of the community like Microsoft does. Playing MW2 while the Javelin hack was still available to cheaters was a nightmare on PS3.

Halo 3 is anything obsolete. It’s still the flag ship game of MLG and has at least 300,000 people online, after 2.5 years since its release.
