i think it would be great to have all these features in the game but i dont tink gow nedd to dethrone any game in my opinion gears of war has the best story, weapons, characters, maps and violence. also i think gears of war is better then any game but i respect the other games too. And to all the people that think this article sucks. i don not agree with them. but Everyone has fredom of speech and they can say whatever they want. however , i only care if i like the game, not if the rest of the people do.

why is it looking unlikely McFail? you do remember that Gears of War 2 was only announced at e3 in 2008, about 6 months before release, dont you? Microsoft announce lots of their high profile games at E3 for release later that year. they did it last year with Forza 3 and Left 4 Dead 2, and rest assured they will do it again at E3 this year.

What can Gears 3 do to topple Uncharted? Simple – it can’t. No matter what Epic do for Gears 3 it will always be a mediocre game compared to Uncharted. Gears Of War 2 was a flop through and through, terrible online, crap story (Pretty much a copy/paste job from the Halo storyline) and mediocre graphics. Gears 2′s graphics/gameplay couldn’t even beat Uncharted 1 so how is Gears 3 supposed to beat Uncharted 2?

Uncharted 2 completely dominated videogames last year. It picked up the award for Best Graphics AND Game Of The Year. In 2008, Gears Of War 2 recieved neither award. Why? Because it was a mediocre game with no graphical improvement at all. It’s likely that Gears 3 will follow the same path (Assuming it DOES come out this year, which is looking highly unlikely).

Uncharted 2 will always be the genre – defining game for TPS. Gears 3 can try hard to earn second – place, however it’ll struggle to even accomplish that.

Gears is still the king of third person shooters and doesn’t need to dethrorne anyone.
Uncharted is an action-adventure game with cover based shooting elements, but just like GTA IV it can’t even begin to compete with the refined and polished shooting mechanism of Gears – it is a derivative in this game (and just the same, gears can’t compete with Uncharted platforming elements and hopefully they won’t try to include any).

Uncharted 2 triumphs graphically if that was your point , but it was released later – and these two games always raise the bar:
Gears of war < Uncharted < Gears of War 2 < Uncharted 2.
So it's easy to see where this trend is going…

What a bad article lol.

Your first mistake was saying that uncharted is a better game than gears of war. That’s all highly subjective opinion.

Secondly, you say that the only way gears can be better is to basically do all these things that uncharted didn’t do, when uncharted did nothing that gears didn’t do. Hypocritical? Just a bit.

You say gears has to be less linear, yet I have NEVER played a more linear game than uncharted 1/2 in my 20 plus years of gaming. Gears was already much less linear and had bigger scale battles. Also, uncharted had no destructible environments, but gears 2 had a decent amount of destructability.

All gears needs to do is fix the matchmaking and bring back the ability to see a list of matches available for the player to choose from. It’s multiplayer, despite the problems, was still better than uncharted 2s. Single player is already good, it’s story isn’t just an Indiana jones rip off like uncharted.

And yes, I own uncharted 2 as well as gears of war 2.

One last thing…. THE Wii should not even be compared. It is for casual gamers only. IT IS NOWHERE in the same gaming category….. Hell if we use that logic how many IPHONE game apps sold??? Does it need to be compared to PS3 and 360????

Own and played them both
I don’t think Uncharted 2 was overall better than GOW2. I did like some of the more colorful levels, but the characters and voice acting and story and truly epic moments in GOW2 was easily put uncharted 2 to shame, just as many of the same elements in Uncharted put GOW2 to shame. The ending of Uncharted 2 was really good but I don’t think it was as epic compared to GOW2, not by a long shot. Both titles are complete fun and I had a blast. I only just finished uncharted 2 a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed it but I could not help to compare to the really great moments in GOW2. Neither of the two games ownes one another. IMO as a gamer that plays both his 360 and the PS3. In the past I have completely supported the 360 but I now have both consoles and I am truly enjoying both of them…

Well Uncharted 2 basically copied GoW gameplay…. So it hasn’t done anything new, its just a newer game.

i think GoW3 should have another blade weapon (maybe the fat butcher knife) to use along with the shield in Gow2. Also maybe an armor item pick-up, that increases your defense overall—a kickass looking body armor
