Cliffy.B: “Naughty Dog you’re going down”
Competition between videogames companies is a great thing for gamers. The fiercer the Competition, the better games we get. When you talk about great third person shooters these days, you have to mention these two popular and great franchises: Gears of War and Uncharted.
Naughty Dog has really raised the bar with their latest game Uncharted 2. The game won many awards and got a very positive feedback from the gaming community and the fans. The first Gears of War game was revolutionary, and the sequel was great despite the laggy online play, but then Uncharted 2 came out and it stormed the gaming industry in a big way. We knew that Gears of War 3 in the works, and if the latest tweet from Cliff Bleszinski the Design Director of the Gears of War franchise is an indication for what to come, then expect great things from the game:
“@Naughty_Dog YOU’RE GOING DOWN! IT’S ON!”
“It’s on” means the Competition is soon to get started. Though Naughty Dog accepted the challenge and replied directly to his tweet:
“@therealcliffyb We’ll offer up hugs too if that’s what it takes! We have two fuzzy, cuddly dogs for hugs!”
The newest tech demo for the latest version of the Unreal Engine 3 looks impressive, which will absolutely run the next iteration in the Gears of War series. Also, Cliff Bleszinski stated before in an interview with IGN that Epic games is aiming to maintain the visual leadership in the industry. Expect an official announcement for Gears of War 3 in the coming months or most likely at E3 2010. But will Epic games be up to the task and raise the bar once again? haha TRENT thats actually true. EPIC games has always dont that and the game has never came out close at all to their target render. or just the game being as AMAZING as they kept saying it would be. Remember when cliffy B. said “gears 2 will be bigger better and more bad ass” hahah yeah we all know wut happened. kind of the opposite… Epic games cant compete with naughty dog haha its just not possible. Naughty dog made one game UNCHARTED 2. and it raped gears 2 in reviews and awards. Uncharted 2 ATM holds the record for most GOTY awards…over 100 to be exact.

To be really honest GoW2 is still one of the most beautifull looking game ever made.
I am a 3 consolles owner and honestly I have to admit that while Unch2 is a great wonderfull game, GoW2 is practically close to it even if it is a 2 years old game!
In any case I am looking forward to Unch3 and GoW3!!!!

Naughty Dog ARE going down though……… going down in history, making one of the most beautiful games ever!! Then Santa Monica come out with GOWIII which smashes everything out of the water……… and they’re still getting into their stride!

Gears 1 was awesome. Gears 2 sucked. Not graphically of course. What makes Uncharted 2 so great is that it combines EVERYTHING. Marcus is as likeable as a prostate exam. The story is terrible in gears, the characters mean nothing and the whole plot is a B movie disaster. The characters in UC2 are fantastic, the plot meaningful. You care what happens, you care about the characters the dialogue is playful, funny and gripping. You become invested in the world. Gears graphically should best its 2 year old competitor. However story wise, character wise, dialogue Gears has a Loooooooooong way to go. I hope they can pull it off. As for graphics I think GOW III is the king now. You never know, come on cliffy make me buy Gears 3.

and GOW 3 barely uses 50 percent of the ps3′s power for god’s sake !!
i read another article about them saying that NO Animator Could Achieve what uncharted 2 animation has achieved ?!

Screw u buddy! ND is one of the best FIRST PARTY COMPANIES EVER!!!! Epic is so 2006. Face it. They even admitted that GeoW all ready maxed out most, of what the hardware had to offer.
That will probably explain why nothing ever looked eqaully as good as what GeoW2 did on the 360. But the PS3 exclusives on the other hand… Now thats a other story… Face it PS3′s exclusives are OUT of this WORLD!

You’re not going to like this cliffy…your only chance to beat uncharted is fot gears or a different ip to be on ps3. Can’t do it on 360…IMPOSSIBLE. So you might want to detatch yourselves from microsoft’s gonads with gears or start a new similar ip. I know u won’t but that is what needs to be done to compete with a 40 gig game. A 40 gig wonderful, bad ass, revolutionary game. Plus drake and company jumps vertically which is hot. Good luck cliffmeister.

The graphics are trash? It’s soooooooo obvious that you guys are just fanboys and you stroke your jocks to everything Sony releases. Umm i think gearts of war is one of the games that did come out as close as to what they said rofl. You fanboys are funny. God of war 3 is the only game so far to actually look great, and they were the only ones that didn’t brag about that. Uncharted 2 looks great, but not awesome great
. Gears of war 2 looked like the promised. Gears 3 will kick some serious ass.

We all know the Xbox 360 doesn’t have the technology to do PS3 graphics, so even trying to compete is pointless.
For the past 2 years in a row the VGA’s have given the “Best Graphics” award to a PS3 exclusive – what does that tell you? It says that the Last – Gen Box 360 can’t compete. Xbox 360′s graphics are a pathetic joke when you compare them to PS3 games. MGS4, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, God Of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, The Last Guardian……the list goes on and on. Sony keep raising the bar higher and higher, Microsoft are still trying to clamber over the first hurdle.
If Gears Of War 3 is going to have good graphics, then it has to be a PS3 game, simple as that. It might look “Good” on the 360 but “Good” on the 360 isn’t even “Adequate” on the PS3.
Uncharted 2 won way more awards than Gears Of Snore 2…………for good reason, as well. Better graphics, better gameplay, better controls, better story, better characters, better everything.

Its impossible for a 360 exclusive to look better than a PS3 exclusive. Its not just Uncharted 2 its God of War 3 as well. You guys have to also remember XBOX360 is a 5 year console ( they said it themselves ). The power has already peaked since Gears 2. They can prolly do more if they lower the Resolution to 576P like alot of 360 games are doing now.

Uncharted is scripted and linear as hell which is why it gets away with so much on graphical levels and hate on Gears 2 all you want because of the gameplay, story, etc. but it still accomplishes feats on a technical level that other games can’t touch when you know what to look for rather than buying into your own BS/trolling to the point that you believe it as the truth. It looks pitiful when people have nothing else to live for other than defending a console manufacturer to the death when all they really care about is your money

In order to beat uncharted they need to switch the Playstation and get rid of the bulky uniform. It wouldn’t make sense that soldiers as big as they are in Gears running around all agile like Nathan Drake. If that tech demo is any example of what Gears 3 is going to look like, well the they can forget about being compared to Uncharted. That tech demo looked horrible, visually.
What they did with Gears 2 was a real disappointment. The story horrible and the AI always pissed me off. For example when playing against the bots and you shoot one point blank and nothing happens and then they either shoot you with one shot or kill you by meleeing you once.
I loved Gears 1. I hope they go back to the dark and gritty style that they went with.
Same thing with Uncharted Drakes Fortune. I played that game over and over just because I liked it so much . Beautiful graphics and an amazing story. Then Naughty Dog came out with Uncharted Among Thieves. EPIC beyond belief. INSANELY beautiful graphics and story.
So instead of challenging Naughty Dog, they should leave the xbox 360 and move over to Playstation and ask for Naughty Dogs for help.

Did you guys know that the Gear 3 tech demo is running on the ps3. No lie. Do some more research on it. I’m not a fanboy, but I do prefer my ps3 over 360. Cuz too many little kids play the 360, buy anyways you cannot beat uncharted 2 graphics for the 360. Because the system is not have the horsepower to do it. period…..

You guys are hilarious. The 360 is still graphically in some ways superior. It’s true exclusives on the ps3 look amazing. (I have all 3 btw). But the 360 hardware is not only easier to program for, but more efficient at many things. The difference is no DEVS save maybe epic have ever tried to make completely unique exclusives for it.
Bungie is retarded- and lets face it they got lazy and fat because everyone is going to buy Halo.
Epic uses U3 engine..which is already kind of outdated.
Alan Wake on the other hand…that’s something that blows U2 out of the water.
If someone focused on making a 360 exclusive title to blow all titles away, we could have something similar to U2.
I love how some said “that tech demo had to be on ps3 or pc” LOL. PC yes, ps3 no. Ps3 is not that powerful, it’s old tech. Just like the 360 is. The difference is the cell and innovative designers. The 360 has no innovative designers, just dbags using the same outdated engines. And yes I hate Halo.
BUT in terms of graphcis, the 360 can easily match U2 if a developer steps up to the plate. Lets hope this happens Epic.

My opinion is that soon enough game developers will break out of their shell and take time to make games even better than U2 it’s a fact and it will happen just a matter of time….Xbox 360 should come up with a better game developing engine than an unreal3 engine if they want to be on top the short clip of unreal3 engine did not impress me at all as most games look like that on a 360….// one game that did impress me was heavy rain soo many characters at 1 time and the use of motion sensor was awesome……
