Alan Wake 2 on PS3? Won’t happen

Posted by Ahmad Dajani On August - 9 - 2010

If you are a PS3 owner and you are hoping to play the sequel for the critically acclaimed Psychological action thriller ‘Alan Wake’ on your console, you have to forget about it right now. Despite developer Remedy owning Alan Wake IP, they want to make the sequel exclusive for Microsoft’s console.

While Alan Wake was praised by the critics, the game isn’t selling as expected. Because of that, there was a lot of rumors hinting at a possibility for the game to be released on Sony’s console, or at least we would see the cancelled PC port of the game in order to sell more copies of the game before Remedy officially announce the sequel. It seems that we won’t see Alan Wake on other platforms despite the fact that Remedy’s Oskari Häkkinen told Eurogamer about the PC version: “I could never say it’s impossible, but it’s certainly not on the cards at the moment.”

While the sequel for Alan Wake isn’t officially announced (Oskari Häkkinen stated that they still have to talk with Microsoft Game Studious about the sequel), he said that Remedy want to make the game exclusive for Xbox360, but at the same time, there is a possibility for the sequel to be released on Xbox and PC:

“With Microsoft Game Studios it’s Xbox exclusive, or it’s Xbox and PC,” he continued “Please don’t put that Alan Wake 2 is going to come out on PC, because that might not be true! Either is a possibility.”

Though he clarified why Remedy want to keep Alan Wake IP in Microsoft’s hands: “Microsoft put a lot of beef behind the title for it to be an exclusive for the 360. They feel it’s an important title for their portfolio. It fits into their portfolio among other games like Gears of War, Halo and Forza.”

It seems that PS3 owners won’t be playing Alan Wake on their consoles any time soon. But I have something to say for Xbox360 owners, if you want more exclusives that aren’t Halos, Gears and Fables, why you aren’t buying Alan Wake?

Why are you such a fanboy? Its a Microsoft owned IP so of course it wont go to PS3 there is no need to even mention it, but that’s not the point right fanboy?

The IP is own by Remedy not M$!And for all it matters the game is great and the script is going on the right way for the following sequels! The only problem is that due to some repetitive combat is a game to be enjoy in small play sections, never the last it has a good length too!

If he’s a fanboy, then you are a moron because Alan Wake is owned by Remedy and Microsoft is the PUBLISHER.

You just gotta love people running to call other names, yet they can’t take 20 seconds to google their f*ukin information!

Did you even read the article? The first paragraph says:

“Despite developer Remedy owning Alan Wake IP, they want to make the sequel exclusive for Microsoft’s console.”

How much research did you do? None because Remedy does not own the IP Microsoft does just because they are not a Microsoft studio does not mean the IP is theirs. By that logic Gears could potentially be on PS3 because Microsoft does not own Epic.

I am a gamer for life and I own a 360 and ps3 because there are great exclusives on both consoles. I could not imagine not being able to experience mass effect 2, gears of war, halo, uncharted, god of war, mgs4 etc.etc. I bought both because I love gaming and love games. The fools who constantly state they do not want this game or that game are doing so simply because they cannot have it. Expand your gaming horizon. There are great games on both these consoles and I can say if you’re not experiencing the best of what each console has to offer you truly have no idea what you are missing. Alan wake is a good game, and a unique experience more importantly. As was heavy rain. Competition means we gamers win. If one of these companies decides not to launch a console next generation, we will all suffer for it.

I played Alan Wake some days ago desperately trying to understand its freakin high ratings… I guess i failed, to me it was a normal, partly boring third person shooter.
