Lionhead bossman Peter Molyneux and the mastermind behind the hotly anticipated action-adventure game Fable III and the forthcoming Natal based game Milo stated that Sony has taken a step forward by revealing their motion controller ‘Move’ but also he thinks that Sony’s motion controller isn’t as big a step as something like Natal.

In an interview with Eurogamer, when they asked the legendary designer if he has seen anything of the PlayStation Move which was unveiled during Sony’s press conference at GDC 2010, he answered:

“Yes, I have seen some of it. We’re not really surprised, are we? I mean at E3 last year we saw they were having a wand, and that’s kind of what I expected. It looks like they’ve taken a step forward but it’s not as big a step as something like Natal, I don’t think. This is purely me talking personally, but I think maybe it’s slightly more a device for the core than it is for the casual market, because I think it’s quite precise.”

As you can see, Molyneux claimed that Move won’t be as big as Natal because Sony’s device is quite precise so it will be more targeted for core than to the casual market. Also, he explained that as a designer he would like to get his hands on Sony’s new peripheral:

“As a designer it’s another one of those things I’d love to get my hands on and to play around with. As a consumer, everyone’s talking about motion control now – I mean, I’m starting to get confused. It’s kind of like the arms race, with the Wii MotionPlus and now the Sony Move and now I’m getting kind of confused.”

We will have to wait until Natal and Move get released this fall to pass our judgement. In the meantime, what do you think of his statement? Does it make sense or he is exercising his usual PR work? Let us know in the comment section.

The Move can be paired with the “Subcontroller”, a nunchuk-like device that sports an analog stick and d-pad, which allows the Move to be used with more “traditional” titles like first-person shooters or role-playing games. The Move will be available in three packages: a standalone Move (for consumers that already own a PlayStation Eye camera), a bundle that includes the Move and PlayStation Eye, and a hardware pack that includes the Move, PlayStation Eye and PlayStation 3 console. Pricing details for the standalone pack and PS3 bundle are yet to be announced, but we know that The Move and the PlayStation Eye option will cost $99.

In fiscal year 2010, Sony will release over twenty games dedicated to or that support the controller. The PlayStation Move will be released sometime this Fall.

The hype surrounding the forthcoming installment in the God of War series is reaching a legendary status. We knew that Santa Monica’s hotly anticipated title God of War 3 will be released this month, but it seems that the fans will have something to look forward to after they beat the game.

In an interview with Steve Caterson (senior producer of God of War 3) on gametrailers.com, the interviewer asked him what was the hardest cut they made from the game during its development? The senior producer of the game has revealed that they had to cut a ‘whole kind of epilogue’ from the game for some reason, and hinted that we ‘may see it later’ which sounds very obvious that we will see this epilogue as an add on for the game.

He didn’t reveal the reason behind the cut, but it seems that he has revealed the first DLC for the game. I can’t wait to play the full game, but strangely, I can’t stop thinking about that we won’t see or play the removed epilogue on day one.

Magnificent, incredible, amazing, fantastic, stunning, epic and other complimentary words can’t really describe the beauty of Santa Monica’s highly anticipated title, God of War 3. It’s been a very long time since I was this excited for a videogame. I have been gaming for over 15 years now, and the way how I do feel right now about this game has only had happened three or four times throughout those years.

I always knew that God of War 3 is going to be a great game simply because of the high quality of the previous games in the series and the fact that I had played the game’s demo months ago. But after I had watched the incredible God of War 3 episode on GTTV, my mind was blown away. To be honest with you, I was a bit disappointed of the God of War 3 demo because I was expecting more of the game. But now, all of my fears are gone away forever.

From what we have seen from GTTV’s God of War 3 blow out, you can see that the visuals of the game are untouchable, the epicness is unmatched and the gore is hitting the max. It’s very obvious that the game’s visuals have improved drastically over the demo, and the quality of the lighting and particle effects in the game are some of the best in the business. Also, it must be noted that the textures do look crisper and more detailed from before. God of War 3 is a graphical masterpiece.

While I don’t think that any game in the near future including God of War 3 can topple the battle system of Platinum Games stylish action game Bayonetta (I sunk over 50 hours into it solely because of its perfect combat system), the combat in God of War 3 is shaping up to be something very special. The intensity, the brutality, the different magic attacks, the new weapons and abilities will make this game a joy to play. Also, the bosses in the game are some of the biggest we have ever seen in a videogame. What more could you ask for?

Add to this an epic story that will reveal the conclusion for one of the best stories ever seen in a videogame, well designed puzzles, and top notch voice acting and you will get a game that seems to be unbeatable. If you still don’t have a PS3, now is the right time to get one because you will be out of your mind to miss a masterpiece such as God of War 3.

Though, this isn’t the only big Wii title to get a 2010 release date in North America. Team ninja’s hotly anticipated action game ‘Metroid: Other M’ which will provide a completely different experience from Retro Studio’s recent series of first-person action adventure will release on exactly June 27th in the US.

The Wii lineup for 2010 looks much stronger compared to last year’s. Now, all we need from Nintendo is to announce a 2010 release for the upcoming Zelda game.

Reviewing a game like Heavy Rain isn’t an easy task. Heavy Rain isn’t the type of game you see often these days. In fact, you might not see a game like it unless, Quantic Dream the company behind this game announces a sequel (which is highly unlikely in my opinion) or a game that follows the same design structure of Heavy Rain. Before I go on with my review, let me ask you some questions: Have you ever played Indigo Prophecy (or Fahrenheit)? If yes, did you enjoy it? Do you want to play a game with good story and great atmosphere, but with absolutely minimal gameplay elements? Depending on your answers, Heavy Rain might be the perfect game for you or it might be the exact opposite.

Going deeply in the story of the game will absolutely ruin the experience for who is willing to play the game, so I will just cover the basics here. The game revolves around four normal people and the mysterious killer (the origami killer). There are four different playable characters in the game so you will see the game’s story from their different perspectives. For some reason, those characters stories are interconnected for a certain purpose.

The game starts very slowly, and in my opinion, it’s a good choice that the developers made the first hours of the game like this. This isn’t a shooter or an action game, Heavy Rain is all about the characters, the setting and the atmosphere. So it’s very important to build up the characters personalities and the atmosphere from the outset. Heavy Rain’s story is emotional and unique, but truth to be told, the game’s story isn’t perfect nor it’s flawlessly executed. What does make the story stand out is how unique and different it is from other stories in the videogames medium. The story isn’t about saving the world or something like that, it’s about the emotions, the characters and it’s also about themes such as love and sacrifice.

Heavy Rain plays similar to Quantic Dream’s previous game Indigo Prophecy (or Fahrenheit). Though, the game uses a different and unique control scheme. You have to hold the trigger button to move forward and the left analog stick to move the character left or right. The right analog stick is used to interact with the environment. Yeah, you will get confused from the controls at first, but with time, you will get used to it. Quick time events do play a big role in the game. Is that a bad thing? Not really. The developers of the game did a great job in making quick time events fun by implementing the Sixaxis successfully. They also added some depth to the formula, by forcing you to press/charge a combination of buttons simultaneously.

The developers at Quantic Dream had tried their best to give the players a cinematic feel, but at the price of not giving the players the best possible camera angle. It’s an issue, but it doesn’t ruin the experience by any means. The visuals looks great, but not perfect. The characters faces are finely detailed, but clothes, hands and especially some objects in the environment aren’t as detailed as you would hope. Though, the game has stunning rain effect and exceptional art direction.

Voice acting is great, but sometimes it doesn’t reach the highest standards. Also, there is some Lip syncing issues. The game has great soundtrack as it really enhances the emotional experience you get from the story and it perfectly fits what happens on the screen. Although the game encourages the player to replay the final chapters of the game so to see how the story conclude at the end, there is no reason to return back to the game after you see the different endings of the game.

It’s obvious that the developers at Quantic Dream wanted from the beginning to create something closer to movies than to a videogame in Heavy Rain. Despite the lack of replay value and some presentation issues, Quantic Dream has created something refreshing and unique. Heavy Rain is certainly a great step forward in the medium of interactive storytelling.

Score: (8.8/10)

2010 is flooded with videogames of high quality. No matter which console you own, you will most likely be spending a lot of your hard earned money on buying some great games this year. With 2010 bringing to us the release of some highly anticipated videogames such as God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Halo: Reach, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and many more, it would be very hard for anyone to predict which game could be the best selling game of 2010.

Speaking on his new show on Gametrailers (Pach-Attack) the infamous video games analyst Michael Pachter has predicted that Halo: Reach will outsell all of the upcoming games in 2010. He predicted that Bungie’s upcoming Xbox360 exclusive ‘Halo: Reach’ is going to sell between 8-9 million copies which according to him would make the forthcoming entry in the Halo series the best selling game of 2010. Though, he spoke of the possibility of a Nintendo game to take the crown of the best selling game of 2010, but at the same time, he has doubted that the upcoming peripheral from Nintendo the Wii Vitality Sensor to sell as hugely as the Wii fit. Also, he said that the next Call of Duty game which is being developed by Treyarch may not sell as good as Modern Warfare 2 did in 2009 because of the fact that Treyarch is developing the game not Infinity Ward.

I think that Halo: Reach will be the best selling exclusive in 2010. But when it comes to the overall best selling game of 2010, there is a high probability that a multiplatform game such as the upcoming Call of Duty game to take the crown simply because it’s available on more than one platform. Which game do you think could end up being the overall best selling game of 2010? Any thoughts? Let us know in the comment section.

2010 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years in the history of videogames. The HD war is at its peak now, and I think that 2010 will be a very critical year for both of Microsoft and Sony. Sony did a great job in 2009 by releasing some of the best exclusives of this generation and the PS3 slim. But 2009 is gone forever, and we are now looking forward to what Sony have to offer in 2010. On the other hand, Xbox360 lineup in 2009 was lacking, but in 2010, it seems that Microsoft is pushing the Xbox360 as hard as they could.

X10 gave us a good look for what to expect of the Xbox360 this year. With games such as Halo: reach, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Fable 3, you can see that the Xbox360 lineup is much stronger in 2010 compared to last year’s. And if Microsoft’s Aaron Greenburg recent statement that X10 is “just a glimpse” of this year’s lineup is true, I think it will make things even harder for Sony’s PS3 to catch up with the Xbox360.

I’m not saying that PS3 doesn’t have great games in 2010. In the coming days, PS3 owners will play something unique called Heavy Rain and in March PS3 owners will finally have the opportunity to play one of the most anticipated games of this generation, God of War 3. Also, Gran Turismo 5 will be released this year as well. But where are the PS3 exclusives that will be released in the second half of this year?

Fumito Ueda’s upcoming title The Last Guardian might not be released this year (though I hope it will). Also, unannounced games such as Killzone 3, Infamous 2 and others which I think that they will get announced in the coming months or at E3 2010 will not make it this year. Killzone 2 and Infamous were just released last year and I don’t think that they can develop and release full blown sequels in this short period of time.

We all know that both of Sony and Microsoft are making games for their motion controllers, but recently, I’m noticing that third party developers such as Capcom and Ubisoft are leaning more towards Project Natal than to Sony’s motion controller. Which does concern me. Don’t also forget that the Xbox360 is still the cheapest HD console which will always be a major Obstacle for Sony to catch up with Microsoft’s Xbox360.

Xbox360 already looks strong in 2010. On the other hand, Sony looks good, but not as strong as they were in 2009. E3 2010 is just months away which means that Sony may surprise us all and turn the play field upside down. In my opinion, the company that is going to sell more consoles in 2010 might be the winner of the HD war. What do you think? Will Sony strike back? Tell us in the comment section.
