The first Army of Two provided a fun co-op experience, but it had some flaws that prevented it from becoming a good third person shooter. The pacing was a little off, the story was weak and if you didn’t play the game cooperatively with a friend, the chances that you got frustrated of the partner A.I were pretty high. Now EA Montreal has released the sequel, but have they fixed the issues that ruined the original?

The game follows the story of Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem (yes, they are back) who are engaged in a routine mission in Shanghai. Everything goes as planned until a competing PMC attacks the city, causing mayhem and destruction and threatening Rios and Salem’s survival. The story in the sequel is really more of a survival story and about what happens to those characters in the process.

Moral choices are one of the new features in the sequel. At certain points in the game, during some cut scenes, you will be asked to make choices that will be impacting the outcome of the story, available equipment and how other characters see you in the world. While this isn’t something new, it’s a welcome addition to the series as it makes the story more dynamic and more involving. Though the story in the sequel is better than the original, it’s still average.

the basic gameplay mechanics haven’t changed too much from the original, but there are a lot of enhancements have been made to the core gameplay and weapons customization. You can now feign surrender in order to outflank the enemy, using human shields, sprint, select from more weapons and upgrades, add interchangeable upgrades between weapons and much more. You’re now equipped with a GPS, which can tag enemies and it gives you better understatement of the environment. Once an enemy is tagged you can see where they are, even if they duck for cover or hide behind walls. The Aggro system makes a comeback as well, and strategic play is a must if you want to survive in this game. Multiplayer in Army of Two: The 40th Day has improved. There are three modes for up to twelve players (four if you pre-ordered the game). Co-op Deathmatch, Control, Warzone, Extraction are all fun to play, but they don’t provide something new to the genre.

Playing the campaign mode cooperatively with a friend is still the best way to play the game. But if you want to play it solo, you won’t be disappointed because the partner A.I behaves in an intelligent manner. Enemies A.I doesn’t disappoint either, they will flank you, revive their fallen comrades and much more.

Visually, Army of Two: The 40th Day looks stunning. It’s one of the best looking games to be running on the Unreal Engine 3. The game has great looking textures, amazing particle effects, and detailed character models. Some imperfections like textures pop up/in do hinder the visuals quality a little bit. But if you are playing the game on Xbox360, I recommend that you install the game on the HDD which will fix the textures pop up/pop issue.

One aspect that disappointed me about the visuals is you see all of those scripted scenes where building collapses in front of your eyes, but you can’t blow up the environments. It would have been nice if the environments were fully destructible. The game has great voice acting as you will hear the voice actors deliver their lines expertly. The sound design is good as well. Also, the music in this game describes the situation at the screen perfectly.

Army of Two: The 40th Day is a great improvement over the original. The game looks sexy, sounds great and most importantly fun to play. If you’re a fan of the original or co-op play, get this game, it’s fun, but don’t expect something that will blow your mind.

Score: (8.0/10)

FIFA10 is heavily apt to be the best Soccer simulation video game ever, the series continues after the huge success achieved by FIFA09 Having overtaken PES in both critical and sales success and managed to destroy all the expectations with a tremendous 2.28 million copy sold for the PS3 and 1.95 million copy sold for the Xbox360.

FIFA09 was just like a knock on the head for its main competitor Konami’s PES2009 where the game exceeded even its loyal fans expectation introducing soccer simulation video game as it should be for the world’s most beloved sport, On the other hand PES2009 couldn’t be fair even for its history and Konami introduced an arcade soccer experience instead of a real soccer simulation just like the gorgeous previous PES series hits during the PS2 era.

FIFA09 undoubtedly managed to take PES’s crown and the upcoming FIFA10 is running on the same track with much more attention given from EA Sport this time because they are well aware that they can give Konami’s PES a nothing less than a deathblow this time and make it even harder for them to return as developers of the most beloved soccer video game like they once was.

During the last few years we saw how SEGA one of the biggest companies in the videogames industry steps aside and leaves the hardware industry shortly after their last console was released- Dreamcast – one of the most entertaining gaming consoles ever.

The Dreamcast was a real hit maker at its time and its failure was never due to software issues, some companies and game makers are still making success until the current consoles generation as a result of a hit first released on the Dreamcast and even without a DVD drive SEGA managed to bring us a deal of “never stop having fun” at that time, The talk about why and how the Dreamcast failed can never end and honestly its not the reason why I wrote this article.

Gaming industry & media never parts and where is media there will be always rumors and lately one of them can really brings someone’s attention claiming that EA is considering a huge risk by entering the hardware Industry from the widest door.

Building a powerful list of first class studios, And Strengthen their existed studios both helped EA to be just like a Home to the largest number of studios and development teams in the gaming world, All these studios never stopped investing efforts nearly in every gaming genre, undoubtedly EA made a huge success creating a respectful list of developers and no more than quick check for the list of studios below will make any experienced gamer realize that if not EA no other company can really enter the consoles war and have a high possibility of being successful even if they depends solely on their own studios.

EA list of studios :-

- Visceral Games (formerly EA Redwood Shores)
- EA Los Angeles (formerly Westwood Studios)
- EA Montreal
- BioWare
- EA Digital Illusions CE
- Pandemic Studios
- EA Black Box
- Maxis
- EA Phenomic
- Criterion Games
- Mythic Entertainment
- EA Sports
- EA Tiburon (Florida)
- EA Canada (Vancouver)
- EA Sports Big (San Francisco)
- EA-NC (North Carolina)
- EA Casual Entertainment
- The Sims

One of the main evidence that EA is planning for something big is the well organized network that they built lately gathering all the gamers of their own games in a huge EA Network providing a unique & customizable Avatar for every player and accumulative points that could be earned from any of EA’s games and then using them to customize your avatar, After all EA will be more than happy if you registered your copy of the game on their official website.

Why not? If you ask me, I consider EA as one of the top 3 video games providers in this generation of consoles and one of the most successful ever, they managed to do nearly everything to keep the pace with the current generation consoles and they proved their worthiness to gain customers trust.

Now lets be honest, Check the list below and I’m sure that every one of us have at least one or two “Must own” games from them, Ok what does that actually means? Consider them as EA’s console exclusive will you buy the console to play your favorite games? Ok I know that not all of you will say “Yea sure I’ll get it!!” but come on, I’m sure that so many gamers will probably go for it, If EA managed to combine reasonable price with a high quality console I’m sure they’ll have a great success.
