Forza 3 sells 1 million? maybe not

According to Microsoft, Turn 10 highly acclaimed sim driving game Forza 3 has surpassed 1 million copies sold. But if you consider that Forza 3 has sold 175.000 (NPD numbers) copies in October and the game wasn’t among the top 20 best sellers of November, you will understand that there is something wrong. Read on to understand more.

I know that NPD numbers are US numbers only -UK, JP, and the rest of the world are excluded- But for Forza 3 to achieve 1 million copies sold, the game has had to sell at least 300,000 copies in the US, and an equal or a better number in UK and in the rest of the world in November, isn’t that so?

Take a look at NPD top 20 best sellers of November, where is Forza 3? Have you seen Dragon Age: Origin PS3 version numbers? 177K, and still there is no Forza 3. Maybe the game had performed much better in UK and in the rest of the world?

According to VGchartz, Forza 3 has passed 1.5 million copies sold with 700k in the US, 760K in Europe and the rest of the world, and 50K in Japan. But if these numbers are correct, then why Forza 3 wasn’t listed in NPD top 20 best sellers of November?

According to VGchartz, Turn 10 latest driving sim, Forza 3 has sold over 1 million copies since it was released on October 27th, 2009. The game has managed to shift 214,713 copies in the week ending 14th November, making a total of 1,114,597 copies sold until now.

October NPD sales says that Forza 3 has sold 175.000 copies. But since the game was released at the end of October, I think that NPD has covered only the first four days of the game sales. Anyway, if you are a fan of driving games, do yourself a favor by getting this game, you will not be disappointed.

FORZA III Damage system looks too OLD!

First of all I want to make it clear that I’m a big fan of Forza series and here at VGarabia.com we always tried to pass every single peace of info we managed to get about the long-awaited racing simulation master piece.

Now that the Demo version is available to everyone, we would like to put the microscope on one of the most important aspects in any racing simulation game, Damages & Crashes.

We all know that Forza is a racing simulation game and it’s far away from being anything near an arcade game so when we talk about crashes and damages systems we won’t compare the game with Burnout Paradise or anything like it.

After I played FORZAIII demo more than 10 times, something weird caught my attention in the damage system, and I will not hide that I felt a certain dissatisfaction with the size of development and improvement that happened since FORZAII.

FORZAII was characterized by the unique damage system it had at that time, but that was in 2007 and what was “unique” before is simply “Not enough” right now specially after we experienced games like GRID and DIRT 2 and they both offer a much deeper damage system than the one in FORZAIII demo, it’s obvious that FORZAIII improved so much in so many aspects, but I think they didn’t pay enough attentions to the damage system.

You can simply try to test the demo yourself, and I think you will probably notice the following:

- You crash head on into another car and all what you will see is paint scratches!
- You hit the rear right light in the car in front of you then the other one simply broke even you didn’t touch it.
- Any accident no matter how awful it is, can’t affect the length of the chassis.
- Lights sometimes survive a huge direct hit, while they may be broke in a silly indirect collision.

Well, don’t call me a GT5 fan, I think you better call me a disappointed FORZAIII fan who is affected by every minor fail in the game -not to mention that I didn’t notice any gear shifting animation- maybe it’s my fault because I thought the game will be just PERFECT, but simply it isn’t, and I can say that GT5 “Destructio Derby” footage are not that bad after all!

Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox LIVE Demo release date

The white flag waves as “Forza Motorsport 3” has Gone Gold, entering its final lap before launching on Oct. 23 exclusively on Xbox 360. To mark the occasion, Microsoft and Turn 10 today confirmed that a demo of the highly anticipated title will arrive on Xbox LIVE Marketplace starting Sept. 24.

The new demo lets you get behind the wheel of five of the world’s most amazing cars on the full circuit of the game’s Camino Viejo track. The demo includes five playable cars:

• 2007 Porsche #80 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR
• 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro
• 2009 Ferrari California
• 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR
• 2009 Mini John Cooper Works

You will be able to drive all of the cars in the demo in full cock-pit view as well as experience damage, rollover and try out the game’s new rewind feature as you take turns on a beautiful Spanish mountain course inspired by the Montserrat region just outside of Barcelona, Spain. When logged into Xbox LIVE, the demo will also support official leaderboards for lap times, giving you a further taste of what players will experience in “Forza Motorsport 3.”

Forza Motorsport 3 Lamborghini Reventon Gameplay

Forza 3 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. A huge number of racing fans are waiting the release of this fantastic racing sim.

Forza Motorsport 3 will include over 400 fully customizable cars from 50 manufacturers and over 100 tracks. New additions to the game include an in-car driving view, one button assisted driving, vehicle rollover, and for the first time in the series, trucks and SUVs, as well as the ability to paint race cars (the previous game in the series allowed only production and tuner cars to be painted). Also included will be the ability to create in-game videos and upload them to the Forza Motorsport website. Forza Motorsport 3 will be shipped on two discs, but can be played completely off the first; the second disc serves as the “installation disc,” which will contain some additional cars and tracks.

Here, is a new video taken from PAX 2009 showing a black Lamborghini Reventon, as you can see the attention to details in the car and the sidetrack is mind blowing. The game will be released exclusively on Xbox360 in 27 October, 2009.
